It's just interesting because over the past 3 yrs companies have kept growing, people keep getting promoted with big raises yet apparently productivity is at an all time low due to all those lazy work from homers. Doesn't add up.

Many of the current job postings do seem to say 'on site' particularly at pharma/biotech companies.

Fair warning - while I seriously doubt the US legitimately defaults... things could twist in the wind for awhile. Could be the trigger point for companies getting aggressive on RTO.

How is MA in terms of number of federal jobs that would be immediately impacted by a default?

As someone who drops the kids off at daycare before work and leaves the office at 3:45pm to be home in time to pickup and have dinner with them, I blame the dads.

Half kidding, there are definitely structural issues. I have a good employer and an understanding boss (who is a mom of 11 year old twins).

There are some who are more understanding than others. Mine is great as well, but I feel bad for those are having flexible schedules taken away from them for no good reasons.

Elon Musk is all about people being in the office. He claims it's because it's unfair to those who have to be in the office - like people who make food and build cars. So because they have to be in the office everyone should be. Personally I think the WFH movement scares the crap out of him because people will have less need desire to buy a tesla to drive to work.

I will be so disappointed if society reverts back to the draconian patterns of everyone working the exact same hours in the office, 5 days a week, with no flexibility for people. It makes no sense to impose old-fashioned policies designed for factory workers onto office workers but that was what many places did up until the pandemic hit.

But Elon also owns Starlink and I think remote work would be great for Starlink's performance.

I am kind of surprised that so many people have gone back to the point of being told this is what you have to do now. A lot of people are still doing hybrid...but it is odd that there was so much buzz about how great WFH is and how it can be done and people never thought it could be. I guess people were lying or the people who enjoyed it were not the ones who had control over 'allowing' it to happen.

I still think a lot of it is peer pressure. People feeling the need to go in just because others are.
