That's what liberals say all the time "it's here live with it" why can't they live by that rule because they never just "live with it" even when a huge majority doesn't want to change it.

How were you able to determine that poster's beliefs, simply by reading his post?

This liberal vs conservative/politcal correctness junk is getting both out of hand and tiresome...and further, is that person a liberal because he or she doesn't agree with your point of view?

That's BS...I've lost count of the times in my life, both online and offline, that I've uttered those very words 'deal with it' or 'get over it/yourself' to someone...and I don't believe I've ever engaged in slapping a label on somebody because of a chat forum post, or something they may have said to me in conversation, that I didn't agree with...

I mean, it's freakin' ridiculous...it's getting to the point that if someone dares to draw breath to disagree with something, or doesn't order the right kind of coffee at Starbucks, or doesn't completely shake his willie dry at a restroom stall, then here it comes 'hmmmph...must be one'a them danged liberals'...

I was under the impression that in America, EVERYBODY has a voice and an opinion, on BOTH sides, AND the right to express said opinion as they choose...NOT to be silenced because you don't have the right 'belief set' (liberal vs consevative again)...just because, true enough, a majority of folks may not cotton to something, doesn't mean that those in the minority have to hush up and deal, because those in the majority happen to be PO'd about it...not gonna happen

That is what they though isn't it. The feller I quoted may not be liberal, but I've heard enough of them say it, when ever they win, they sure don't don't follow that logic the rest of the time.

Default black bears

Delighted Ole Miss has given up having a TRAITOR TO THE UNITED STATES as a mascot. Those who want to keep that anti-American symbol "Col" Reb should to move to Iran where anti-Americanism is welcome

The legacy of slavery was not just about who did or did not own a plantation with slaves....the justifications that were used to implement and function under slavery was based in taking away the humanity of people of African descent....to the point that people of African descent could drink out of the same water fountain or sit at the same lunch counter as White people.

Personally, I could care less about the mascot of Colonel Reb but DO NOT attempt to diminish the impact of the enslavement of Black people on this nation.
Just a dang minute. I am a Yankee not of rebel ancestry. My two great-greatgrandfathers fought for the union and one died. My great-grandfather was a drummerboy. I am not diminishing slavery. I am saying Col Reb to me--and maybe I am wrong--does not REPRESENT slavery.

So all Southerners are traitors are they? I wonder why so many join the military then?

While the "America love it or leave it" attitude is itself ANTI AMERICAN (oh the irony!) FF didn't say ALL southerners he said Col Reb. And the fact is, in spite of the obvious troll, he's right. This was something of an issue after the war; all those rebel soldiers WERE considered traitors to the US. There were several acts filed in the 1860'3 pardoning rebel soldiers below the rank of Col. Those who held the rank of Col or above (ie "Colonel Reb") would have had to individually apply for amnesty.

Fourteenth Amendment, sec 3:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as a executive or judicial office of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or give aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House remove such disability.

I'm just sick of the South being told what to do. It's not just symbols it's everything, these people act like we shouldn't have anything of our own, no flags,no music, no mascots, no anything. What I wonder is what they'll go after next? grits? country music? sweet tea???

Who is "they?" Dan Jones was born in Mississippi, and since it seems you cannot realise this from the multitude of comments even in this very thread, he is most definitely not the ONLY Mississippian wanting Col Reb and the chants to go.

Dude, you have issues. Stop watching so much FOX NEWS.

Oh yeah... and country music sucks.

It's not just Col. Reb, this just happens to be the latest in a long string of things liberals are trying to get rid of, things that in a free country should be left alone, and two other things I'll watch as much Fox News as I want to, and lots of other music sucks, I was just trying to make a point.
