By this time Linda was starting a great, great run on chart hits-and also lp releases. her 1974 release Heart Like A Wheel was done by Capitol Records as she owed THEM one more lp per her contract. You would think she would do a bunch of ho-hum schtick and put it out. Wrong, it was a hell of an lp. As is 1975's Prisoner In Disguise, and she really went to town from there. During the 1970's and early 1980's, IMO she was the #1 lady rocker!
As always, another great group of tunes here. Thanks Nema98!

This is now the year with the most great songs to reach #1.
I think I voted for at least a dozen and felt there were some other pretty strong ones I didn't vote for.
America and Earth, Wind and Fire are about all I can stomach from that list, though the Ronstadt song doesn't make me dive for the FM frequency setting.
Okay my favorite from this list was KC and the Sunshine Band's "That's The Way I Like It". Bee Gees, this is when they started going disco, and "The Hustle" got my nod also. And "Fly, Robin, Fly".
"Fame" is not David Bowie's best song, but it's a good song and I showed him some love eon this poll. All of the Elton John entries got my vote, it's interesting to me that his number 1 singles are now forgotten whereas his well known titles were NOT number 1 singles!
"Black Water" is a great song, really gives you a feel. Linda Ronstadt, Neil Sedaka, Wings and Earth, Wind and Fire were also good.
Truly, I had forgotten how God-awful top 40 pop had gotten by 1975. Even more disturbing is that I remember every single one of these songs! There are very few of merit to choose from on this list, so my votes will go towards AWB's "Pick Up the Pieces", Freddy Fender's "Before the Next Teardrop Falls", and David Bowie's "Fame", in about that order.
