Of the Puerto Rican population both in PR and the states, not how they self identify, what there actual race is, i would say 30% of them white ( from Spain, and to a lesser extant France), 10% of them are black (from West/Central Africa), and like 2% indio (mostly descend from Taino indians). The other 58% are mixed race people (mostly mulattos and tri-racials). The majority of Puerto Ricans are NOT white, they are mixed, get over it. Idk which Puerto Ricans you see, and how tf you think PRs are white when most are obviously mixed. Jeez where do you get this sh*t from??

All I can say is many of the Puerto Ricans I meet in NYC are as white as the people in my family.

Today's "White" classification is a generalization, as "Asian" or "Yellow" is born out of liberal categorization.. like an Indonesian or Indian is categorized as "Asian".. but they're totally different from Japanese.. these categorizations were created by liberals, to dilute heritage.
again, i repeat, "White" used to denote those who were of anglo saxon, nordic/germanic heritage..
Are your family from that heritage? Certain "whites" don't consider spanish people white. nor do they consider southern Europeans white.
Puerto Ricans should have their own categorization, such as "Browns", or "Beiges".

My family is of Eastern European Ashkenazi Jewish heritage.
We are not of Anglo Saxon, Nordic/Germanic heritage, but everyone considers us white.
Some of us look less white than many of the Puerto Ricans I see in NYC.

there are many whites who don't consider those examples as white. sorry but "everyone" does not consider you white. ashkenazi jews are mixed eastern european slavs and hebrews, semitic people who migrated north into europe after diaspora. which is why ashkenazi don't speak hebrew, they speak Yiddish. if current day syrian refugees who are from a region near Israel mix with south europeans, does that make them white?? no.

I said some of the Ashkenazi Jews I know are less white than some of the Puerto Ricans I know.
Therefore, if all Ashkenazi Jews are considered white, then Puerto Ricans (or at least some of them) can be considered white as well.

get over it, obama's presidency is over.. we should cherish our individual identities instead of pretending to try to be "white".. white isn't a standard to which humanity sets a standard.. be proud of your JEWISH heritage, be proud of your Puerto Rican Heritage.. stop trying to be white.. or black as the case may be.

i'm as white as the driven snow. the whole family is from the british isles. my husband was white. his father was a blue eyed, blonde haired pole, and mom was sicilian. he was sort of olive/beige with deep brown eyes and dark brown hair. when he had a tan and grew a beard, some thought he was arabic. that usually happened in europe.
i can't imagine where that came from. i first met his uncle in december, and i thought he'd just come back from a long vacation in florida. he hadn't.

I am proud of my Jewish heritage.
But what I am saying is that OTHERS seem to consider us white, regardless of what we look like.
Why don't they consider those Puerto Ricans who look like us (or lighter) white as well?
