My kid had his first football practice yesterday. Ninety degrees, and very high humidity. The coaches made the kids do the dynamic stretches (warm-up routine that involves running across the field in various manners) in masks. They're going to have kids passing out. I'm really not okay with this. As a coach myself, I would never make my cross country kids run in masks.
I'm not going to make my kid quit over it, but I did tell him that if he starts to feel light-headed that he is to take that damned mask off immediately and I'll take it up with the coaches.

Maybe you could as a fellow coach kindly speak to that coach about your valid IMO concern.

That's called independent thinking which is the last thing that the tyrants on the left want to see.

Today, my family made me very proud. My great-uncle passed away back in March (right at the same time the lockdowns started) and therefore, we could not celebrate his life. He was cremated, but they had to store the ashes in a safe place until his daughters could go get them. His daughters finally said, “Screw it, we’re not waiting anymore.” We had a memorial service with his ashes present at the Church (where we were about 70/30 between those were wearing masks and who weren’t, I was not), then we gathered at the cemetery to spread his ashes, all standing crowded underneath the awning since it was raining. Afterwards, we went to a luncheon where we ate inside, and we all kissed and hugged each other and no one wore masks while we ate, drank and socialized.
And you know why we did it? Because we were forced to wait 5 months to give him a proper send off, and we were okay taking the minuscule chance of getting the virus, and the even more minuscule chance of dying from it. I bet I’m going to get bashed quite a bit right now (not by you, but by others) but I frankly don’t care, and neither do my relatives.
There's nothing wrong with resuming one's life. What I never understood is why folks are so vehemently opposed to wearing a mask. You say you wear a mask to walk into church, but once you sit down it comes off. I mean, what's the point then? To suggest mask-wearing is merely a placebo effect is absurd.
You certainly can get killed driving to work. But if not wearing a seat-belt wasn't against the law, would you not still do it? We can live our lives without throwing caution to the wind.
I wear a mask walking into the church because I am often walking alongside elderly people and I don’t want them to get nervous. Once I’m sitting down, I’m nowhere near any of those old people. I put it on again to walk out also, but I don’t wear it when I’m sitting, and neither do a lot of people.
I like how this thread has evolved from closed gyms and indoor dining, to justifying taking one's mask off in an indoor group setting like church that is demonstrably the highest risk of transmission setting. Murphy opened gyms and indoor dining is less than two weeks away.

My daughter's about to start lacrosse practice in a couple weeks, which involves a lot of running also. And her and a few other girls have varying strains of asthma. She knows the signs of passing out, and her mask will come off. It's ridiculous, keep the kids 6 feet apart and no masks. They are outside, this isn't difficult.
I'll be shocked if the teachers don't strike. I'm under the impression they really don't want to do in-person.
I was under the impression most districts aren’t going to be doing in person yet?
