Did anyone else see this report from KOAT last night? A New Mexico driver's license will not be enough to ID you as a US citizen if you are stopped in Arizona. Arizona police actually recommend New Mexicans carry a passport (seriously!) or some other documentation when traveling in Arizona.

Yes, that has been speculated for a while. The Arizona Immigration Law S.B. 1070 was signed in April 2010. The New Mexico Drivers License does not meet the Federal REAL ID Act of 2005, REAL ID Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So far I have a list of two attorneys to contact if I get stopped in Arizona...

But if you drive ten MPH under the speed
Do not, ever, use your turn signals
And blow through a couple of Red Lights and Stop Signs

The Arizona Police will instantly recognize you, as a citizen of the great state of New Mexico.....and probably NOT stop you.

Well, who says it won't work??

This NOT Arizona's problem but rather New Mexico's. It began with the decision to permit (as in license) illegal immigrants! I know the arguments pro and con but I was never convinced that allowing illegals to have licenses was going to reduce the number of accidents or increase the number of insured drivers.

I'm one of those who is kept busy scratching my head about why the foreign - nay, ALIEN - elements are being allowed to destroy our culture.

I'm one of those who is kept busy scratching my head about why the foreign - nay, ALIEN - elements are being allowed to destroy our culture. And especially on this 4th of July holiday weekend when we are supposed to be celebrating our unique heritage.

Just today I saw an article where the American Flag painted on a wall was obliterated by painting it over because someone deemed it graffiti. And then there was the story of Cinco de Mayo day at some CA school where children wearing American flag tee shirts on that day were asked to turn them inside out so as not to risk "offending" the Hispanics in the school!

What have we become! Sorry for the digression, but these issues just chap my **s!

As I said a while back, I'm not going to carry proof of citizenship unless it becomes mandatory
for all citizens in all states. If challenged, my intent is to ask for a specific reason why I am
being viewed as "suspicious" and that the officer(s) document that.

Of course, I can be full of vinegar and bluster as I'm pretty white-bread and the chances of any
AZ cop going to the mat with me over the issue are very low..

You could hand the cop a copy of the Constitution with the Privileges and Immunities Clause underlined, which I believe would be the right of yours they would be violating:

Knowing AZ, I'd probably have to wear a yellow star of David too.
Citizenship papers my ass.

U.S. Military ID is not proof of U.S. Citizenship.

We have many non U.S. Citizens serving in the U.S. Military.
