I am definitely calling on Friday if I don't hear from them by the end of today. Unfortunately, I feel I have to push. The office staff is very nice and kind, but I am not sure why they are so unresponsive. I am always polite because I work in the service industry so I understand some stuff is not their fault.

Sure- here is my summary
( BTW this is the 1st lottery that I have ever participated in)
-03/06-2021 signed up
-04/27-2021 log # assigned 29XX
( forgot about the lottery)
-03-15-2022 ready to process application
04-11-2022 Ms Pryce called informing me that I didn’t feel the student affidavit
04-12-2022 affidavit sent
04-28-2022 e-mail to inform that there is low inventory
06-01-2022 acknowledged that affidavit received- put on 2bed waitlist
Ask if I have a pet
06-02-2022 e-mail informing me that low inventory…
07-07-2022 request to update all documents
07-26-2022 review completed by Ms Pryce
08-04-2022 offer made with rent
08-05-2002 informed that rent a little bit higher due to move in day after oct 1st
Than offer accepted and lease generated quickly.

*i couldn’t choose my move in day. People have mentioned being offered couple of days… maybe because my move in day is 2 months after offer made…
Obligo payment was a mess- they kept asking me to verify my credential as I was trying to pay with my checking bank account…
I ended up paying with my debit card and had to pay an extra $114 fee ( no fee with bank account)

Apt located 620 east 20th st
2 bedroom 1 bathroom Stuytown 944 square ft

My vacay is not over yet, thanks for asking… I can’t just help myself to check the list serve. There are 2 ladies who started the process around the same time as me and we had the same specialist our log # was very close. I am literally checking to see if they will announce their good news of an apt offer.

Trying to get a gauge on how random the whole process really is.
I have Ms. Pryce and it seems she is the slowest because she has a more significant amount load of cases. My take is you have to advocate for yourself. Try to follow up and ensure all your documents are unzipped and labeled correctly. Call the office once every 10 days to make sure nothing is missing. Be kind to the specialists so they don't start hating you

I was borderline obnoxious at the end of my process. I called almost every day and maybe that is the reason I got the final approval last Friday.

No offer yet. As per yaya24 post I feel I need to call them to make sure they didn't forget about me.

This process unfortunately is not transparent and it can be extremely frustrating dealing with so much uncertainty and your current landlord. Not everyone has time to call dozens of times or stop by the office and it is very unfair.

Good luck to all applicants and an extra dose of patience.

I am so at the end of my rope here. I updated my documents in early July, was told to check back in August, it's now August and I have absolutely no idea if/when they'll reach my 31xx log number for a 1 bedroom. My lease ends this month and I have a sublet for the month of September but after that i don't know what I will do. It's really hard to make an informed decision when you have absolutely no information.

Does anyone have ideas about who else we could contact to get an update on when or if more 1 bedrooms will become available? The specialists clearly aren't able to provide any helpful information, and I just wonder if there is someone out there who can.

I want this apartment so badly, whenever I think too much about the lottery I feel like crying because this process has been so drawn-out and anxiety inducing.
I feel your pain, I am also in a similar boat. My log number is 53xx, and was contacted in the beginning of June. My specialist is Ms. Wentt also, and it seems she may be the worse one from reading these posts in the forum...lol.

The last I heard from her was back in June, confirming she received my paperwork, and asked what size apt and if I had any pets. After that; nothing. Tried emailing, tried calling; nothing. Left messages on their answering machine; nothing.

My lease ends in a couple of months, so I have some time. But, I just received my lease renewal papers this week, so it's getting close.

Feeling very anxious and nervous too.

Just a reminder that the Stuy Town management team gather every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6 to answer questions from anyone who shows up. It takes place under a white tent near the Oval fountain. I don’t know exactly how much info you would get, but it might be worth a try.

If so, it seems like these 1BRs are moving at a glacial pace relative to the 2BRs. People are getting offers (if memory serves) who are over 6xxx.

Honestly, I say just assume you aren't going to get it for now. Move ahead and don't wait for this to happen. If they have only moved 1500 spots since the recent lottery started in earnest, it is probably unlikely it will happen very soon.

That said, it seems like they are doing something weird with this lottery which is just quickly skipping past people who don't have their documents complete rather than working to get them complete. The last lottery we did they worked with us to get it all sorted rather than giving our spot to the next person...it creates a lot of chaos and confusion when the paperwork stream isn't as well-documented as it should be.

But like I said, just based on the cursory scan I've done of this lottery forum, even if you get all of your documents sorted, it is probably going to be a while,
I'm log # 53xx, and waiting for a 1br since June.

Hey ya'll,
Glad to see there's some movement with the 2 bedrooms but hoping the 1 bedrooms start to move soon too.

I was contacted last month to submit my paperwork on a Tuesday, got everything together and submitted it two days later on Thursday. That was three weeks ago and I have yet to even receive an email from my specialist confirming receipt of paperwork. I have called a few times, and was told a week after I submitted documents that my specialist would be emailing to confirm receipt the next day, and never did. I think my specialist is Ms. Pryce, who I can see from the boards is pretty overwhelmed and slower than others. Does anyone know if it is possible to change specialists?

Also, can someone tell me if I understand the lottery/how it works correctly? This is my understanding:
- A lot of people applied in 2021
- They drew 15k names, assigned them log numbers, and started filling apartments from the lowest first
- Depending on what kind of apartment you want (1/2/3 bedroom), and your income, other people with a higher number than you may get an offer first. EX: You're number 1265, and want a 1 bedroom, but in the lot of numbers 1200-1300, there are other people who may need a two or three bedroom, and if there aren't any one bedrooms, then it's possible for say 1289 to get an offer before you, cause they want a two bedroom.

Am I correct in how this works? Or have they pulled like 15k names for each category?

Pretty sure that's right. We were all assigned log numbers last year, but people are being sorted onto the 1/2/3BR lists only after their number is pulled and they are asked to submit documents. (Usually by being asked which size apartment you want, I think, though in my case I was put on the 1BR list automatically because I am a single applicant. Syed informed me of this only after he confirmed receipt of my documents.)
