Hey y’all. Happy thanksgiving I am grateful for the opportunity I have in this lottery but truly starting to feel that because I have government help I am been pushed aside and been giving excuses about no apartment in my range. With the help I receive I can pay between $1500-$2500 and I have been on Susan waiting drawer since August 30TH. Eveytime I call I received the same sentence low inventory or nothing in my rent range! It been very stressful and confusing because I keep seen people receiving offers from $1700-$2600 and every time I see and call I still get the same response. Does anyone here have the same experience or did receive an apartment while having government help? Thank you
This process is very frustrating and not straightforward. It drove me insane therefore I totally understand your frustration.
I have moved into Stuytown in October, I went through a rollercoaster of emotions before getting my offer, however when your application lands into Susan's desk, its a really good thing.
I received my offer a week after it landed on her desk, however I had to wait 2 full months to move in. I couldn't even choose my move in date.
last week-end or so, I met with couple of lottery recipients, some of them had their offer 2-3 months after it landed on Susan's desk. Be patient, easier said than done. Your offer is coming.

Best of luck to all.
Agreed. Moved in last week and to say it was all worth it is an understatement. Love our new apartment. Have faith, things will happen!
Odd question but thought someone on here might know (going to post this on the moved in group as well). Does anyone know the color, finish and brand name of the white paint they use to paint the apartments? I had a few scuffs from the movers that I was going to touch up but wanted it to match. I wrote the paint shop and tried to call, but no response. Thanks!
UPDATE: Got thru to the paint shop and they are dropping some off.

if you end up having any extra happy to have some. I have some scratches as well.
Another member (supercuteanon) recently posted part of an email from the PCSVT lottery folks that states "...We do not have a definitive closing date for this lottery as it stands."
Has anyone else gotten any similar intel? I think I read a while ago that the 2-year lottery cycle (ending March 31, 2023) would stop working through the waitlist by the end of February 2023.
I had completely given up on this lottery earlier this year with my high log number of 9,2xx. But a recent 2 bedroom went to a log number in the 8,xxx's. So with that and the ramp up in staff to process applications, I feel a glimmer of hope.
Is there any way to find out how many units are actually left in this round? thanks and good luck!
So Ms. Wentt got in touch with me about confirming that everyone on my original application was still valid. There was me,my daughter and a family friend who is no longer moving with us. Ms. Wentt emailed me that the family and I had to get a notarized letter stating that he is no longer on the application. I just went on the website and removed him from the application along with his information. My income is the same in 87xxxx. My application number is 36xx. I applied for a two bedroom. Does anyone else have Ms. Wentt as housing specialist?
yes, we do have Ms Wentt. I need to follow up. i have had no contact for months. we are 56xx and also looking for a 2 bedroom.
Hey! I’m just curious… how do you all think it is that someone got an offer for a 2 bedroom in the lottery when my number is 37xx and I’m also going for a 2 bedroom? Thanks so much!

I don’t completely understand your question. Perhaps you are asking how a log# higher than your 37xx for a 2 bed got an offer ahead of you. This out of sequence process is not unusual, however.
The lottery attempts to match units to log#s based on the rent to income ratio so that rent does not exceed about a third of income.
Two substantially identical units can have very different rents, the increase in the rent is controlled no matter the income of who moves in. This is due to the particular unit’s rent history as subject to rent regulations and so on. It seems, if the rent on a particular 2 bed unit would consume half of your income they will not likely offer it to you. Instead this particular 2 bed unit would go to the next log# where the rent does not exceed ~35% of income. This is what I understand.

Thanks! You definitely have the right idea! I meant to include “that someone with a log in the 8,xxx got an offer ahead of me”. I’m sorry i wrote my question out wrong!
So my appropriate rent amount is around $2500 for a 2 bedroom which I think is towards the higher side of the rent price. (From what I recall, 2-bedrooms were renting from between $1,400-$2,600 in this lottery). Maybe they’re going through the log numbers in order from rent amounts (low to high) instead of sticking to log numbers (low to high)? Like they’re skipping outside of the logs when necessary to fill units? I imagine they wouldn’t offer a unit that is less than 35% of income?)
Hope this makes sense! Lol! Regardless, thank you so much for your insight
