Hello, my lot number is 5xx and I’m waiting for a two bedroom apartment. How long would it take for me to get an apartment as I have submitted the required documents a few weeks ago? Asking as I see people with much higher lot numbers seeing movement and would like to know how long I might have to wait?

Hello,

I hope that you will all start the new year with a nice apt offer.

I moved in Stuytown early oct. If I have one advice for people moving in is, do not buy ANYTHING NEW. Move with what you have, sign up on the buy nothing and on the classified group.

There are moving sales on a daily basis and people are also giving furnitures for free on a daily basis. Since moving in, I was gifted 4 dining chairs, s standing floor lamp, a standing mirror, a desk lamp, plants, planters, wine and champagne glasses etc.. You can literally take your time to buy some new furniture once you are all settled in.

Happy holidays to all of you.

With that low a number you should reach out the the office. Put your log# in the subject of your email, and again at the top of the body of your email. Perhaps this will gain some attention.

Certainly continue to get your documents together. I will need to do so anyway to file your 2022 taxes.

Happy New Year!

Hi, my log number is 33XX. Is there hope for me? I'm on the 2018 waiting list and would love to know if anyone can share their experience or any advice on this process.

Thank you

What size apartment? Which bracket are you in?

I seem to remember that the 80% bracket was still in force, and everyone in the 165% had either gotten an apartment or rejected an apartment.

I do think people have posted on this thread that they were called. If no one comes forward to respond to you, you could do a search.

Thank you for your response. My apartment is a 2 bdrm. I called and was told to call back in April 2023 when they will be closer to my number. I am not familiar with the bracket. Does it have to do with income? Maybe if I was rejected over the phone? Would they have me hanging on until April to just tell me I have been rejected on a waitlist?

I'm sorry, I can't answer your questions, except to say that earlier Stuy Town lotteries had two brackets, 80% and 165%. The one-bedrooms for the 80% people ran about $1,500, and about $2,900 for the 165% bracket.

The problem was that very few apartments were allotted to people in the 80% bracket, and apartments in the 165% bracket were expensive, almost market rate. Consequently, people in the 165% were inclined to turn down the offerings, and new lists had to be generated for the upper bracket. Those on the 80% remained in force. Maybe you fall into that category.

You can see how all this is very complicated, and that's why it's hard for anyone here to help you, except for those people (as I mentioned earlier) who posted they had been part of an earlier lottery and had been called. I'm sorry you didn't get more guidance from the office. A shame.

I just searched the thread and came across this:

I thought for sure I would be waiting forever and then I open my email today and it was like the sky opened up and a ray of sunshine landed on me lol My log number is from the 2018 lottery.

Maybe you can send a private message to GriefOneNYC.

Here's an article about the 2018 lottery, although it might be behind a paywall:
