Hey, welcome! What size apartment are you looking for? I'd say you have a great chance of being contacted, particularly if you want a 1br as they have the most of those, although those are probably also the most popular. Things have been moving pretty slowly though so be prepared to be patient. Good luck!

I qualify for a Studio. Hoping they are bigger than the ones offered at 5Pointz. I could not justify paying that money for that tiny space.

Thanks

Keep in mind, a Studio here is almost certainly Rent Regulated which means there will be cap on how much they can raise the rent on renewal. The rent might not seem justified today, but in two years with a regulated increase it might look more justified. Consider what rents might be in two years.

I'm pretty sure all the lotto apartments are both "affordable" (as in initial rent is set by your AMI) and "rent stabilized" (future increases are regulated). I 100% agree though, in some lotto buildings the discount from market rate isn't that great but over time the discount grows and makes getting into one if you can totally worth it.

Linamonroll and Wild... the insight you provided is very much appreciated! Thank you!
As for 5Pointz, I was just so put off by having my bed next to the kitchen/stove, and a couch would actually have to be placed IN the actual kitchen. For me, that was just too small.

If I am lucky enough to get a spot in this building, I am hoping for a bit more space. It looks beautiful and I am hopeful!

Cheers-

Hi all!

Log #8xx - does anyone know how many units are still available?

The lease for my unregulated apartment is up in December, and am anticipating a rent hike (sigh). I'm hoping to hear back from someone about a housing lottery so that I can plan my next moves.

Cheers

You're almost certain to get called back with that number, and the number of apartments available (I was called back to a similar sized building with log 55XX and quite a few apartments were still open).

It seems they are moving fairly slowly though, going through around 100 people per week according to posts on this thread. I believe they are up to 300-something now, iirc. So, you might get a call back towards the end of June, and then it can take a couple of months more to wade through all the procedures and bureaucracy.

Good luck!

This isn't generally public/shared info. Sometimes when there are few units available someone will be told then they are viewing apartments that "this is the only 1br available", for example, but you never really know. If they are still contacting people, there are still some units available in that person's AMI + family size but that doesn't mean that person will 100% get a unit if qualified because they sometimes reach out to more people than they have apartments. 8xx is still a good number for this building with over 200 units available, I'd definitely be hopeful if I were you but be patient because they have been moving rather slow.

Thank you @BritinNYC and @linamonroll!
I will keep my fingers crossed, but I won't hold my breath lol.

Just got back from my viewing!

I was shown two studios, both with no alcove (I have a feeling that lottery studios will not have the alcove). The first was on the 15th floor, East facing and the other was on the 19th floor, facing West. The layouts were pretty similar but the noticeable differences were closet type and view. The 15th floor had two closets and views of train tracks (LIRR?) and the 19th floor only had a walk in closet (big though). The view, right below is the roof of Barclays, but it is landscaped and is a garden during spring/summer! As well as farther out, views of the river and statue of liberty. The 15th fl is slightly bigger and while I do like that there are 2 smaller closets, I have to I will forfeit the few extra sq feet for the views of the river and statue of liberty.

All the amenities and the views are absolutely amazing!

Hope this was helpful!
