I'll be moving into the apartment at the end of the month. The apartment looks great and I'm looking forward to moving in. Unfortunately Brookfield won't back down from demanding their hefty lease break fee.
Has anyone run into any issues from Stuy management by using a moving company that can't provide a COI (Certificate of Insurance) for their move-in? The best price I got from a moving company doesn't provide a COI.
Congrats on the apartment! My movers were JP Moving and they were terrific and provided a COI - I moved a lot of stuff - 900 square feet/2bedroom, and they put 2 Ikea beds together, 3 bookcases and a kitchen microwave cart together. I think the grand total was $1100 ($125/hour + some extra packing/boxes) If the moving company you have can't provide a COI, it's probably because their insurance company charges a fee - they can't operate in NYC without insurance, so there should be a way of getting one, even if you have to pay the fee. I also had to pay a break up fee (2 months rent) on my old lease (Equity) and then they charged me ridiculous "clean up" fees which I fought and won - they were going to gut the apt anyway, so it was just a money-grab. The amount of rent money I'm saving per month ($1800) at my new PCV apt, was well worth the break up fee. Good luck!
I wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season! I couldn't be happier in my new apartment at PCV and I really hope that more come online for everyone to get the same opportunity - it's made a huge difference in our quality of life, not to mention being able to keep a few shekels in my pocket which is rare in this city! My daughter has already made some new friends at the playground and our neighbors on our floor are truly amazing - it makes it feel like a real community, which is just icing on the cake. Best wishes to all! Now I will need to change my handle to "PCVMama" lol
I'm sorry you missed it. Yes, that was a goooooood one! And it stayed on the site for about nine minutes, because I think people had given up on this lottery. Just keep trying, and you'll be there when others are not.
I checked the site less frequently now since most of the time shows no available apart available. I did see there’s one posted on housing connect claimed to be StuyTown.
Sometimes just wondering if they still doing this lottery thing
Just posted at 3:30 p.m.! Not a bad deal. The address is directly on East 20th Street, but the D line is on the back of the building and faces the loop road, which should be quiet. Should have good light also.
