What can we do? A few letters to officials won't work.
Anything you can, if enough people contact their reprehensitives (you will note that I purposely misspelled that as the behavior of some of our so called "representatives" is indeed reprehensible otherwise we wouldn't be in this reprehensible situation.) things would indeed change. The only thing these "reprehensitives" care about is the power to control people's lives otherwise they wouldn't lie, prostitute themselves and cut each other's throats for some crummy little political office. Millions of law abiding gun owners proved how effective it is to relentlessly never give up when they beat back any attempt at additional gun control laws at the federal level after Sandy Hook. Two Colorado legislators were recalled despite massive amounts of money spent by gun prohibitionists lead by billionaire Michael Bloomberg. The pro gun side was outspent 7 to 1 by Bloomberg and his cohorts who were also aided and abetted by a sympathetic media to their cause. In spite of this the pro gun side won and by a large margin. So yes it can be done, it has to be done the future of this nation and our way of life is at stake.

This is the only issue I've seen since I've been an adult that I will be politically active in
God bless you for that, this is without question the number one issue that we face today. There are millions more of you who have finally woken up to what the ramifications of illegal immigration will have on this nation and how it will affect not only our future but the future of generations to come. By all means don't give up. These illegal invaders (I won't even use the word immigrants) are being shipped all over the country including New York not just Murrieta CA. If you wish to show up to protest remember keep it legal and keep it civil. If not keep contacting your "reprehensitives" every letter, phone call, e-mail etc. counts.

Unchecked immigration has largely been a fuel for business keeping down wage pressure as well as real wages while simultaneously putting a strain on our already overburdened social system which results in either higher taxes and fees or deficit spending.

There is really no other way to spin this. Of course, compassion exists and should exist to those trying to escape poverty and start a new life in American. Almost all of us are immigrants or sons and daughters of immigrant parents or grandparents. Legal immigration has helped make this nation great a true melting pot stronger I believe as a whole then the sum of its parts.

But if both parties don't get it together and find sensible common ground on this issue which there is plenty of but instead use immigration to pander to one voting group or another then we will all get screwed over in the long run.

Hence the birth of the Tea Party. The Democrats on the other hand depend on an impoverished class of people to keep them in power along with a growing cycle of dependency. It's simply not sustainable, the far left radicals know this and will never be happy until the capitalist system is completely destroyed and everyone can be equally miserable except that is for the people that rule over us. Every Socialist Country provides proof of this. Yet that is their mission and they are trying to accomplish this through class warfare and class envy. Similar to what the Nazi's did with the persecution of the Jews or any other class of people they deemed unacceptable in their society. Once people can provide for themselves they no longer need the government to support them and thus there is less of a need for the Democratic Party's socialistic goals. Just as it is to the benefit of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton et. al. to constantly fan the flames of racism. If there were no racism in America those imbeciles would be irrelevant in today's society. Not wanting this nation to be overrun with poorly educated, poorly skilled, impoverished people that will almost certainly be dependent on government does not make anyone a hater. I have no problem with people regardless of their race or skin color legally immigrating to this country providing that they can provide for themselves and properly assimilate into our culture and way of life and drop all the hyphenated American BS that only serves to divide us and will lead to the "balkanization" of the United States. Any clear thinking person should be able to understand that this will not be good for the future of this country. For those who are in favor of this except for those at the very bottom of the economic ladder this will eventually have a profound effect on their quality of life too, but by then it will be too late. You will have gotten what you wished for unfortunately we all will have to wallow in it.
You're wanting to put all of the blame for economic decline and your perceived loss of a standard of living (not necessarily you personally but the group you identify with) all while putting nearly no blame on the businesses and the US Chamber of Commerce. Businesses have done more than just pay off the Republican party.

Large companies have also offshored work, where possible reduced full time workers to temps, where possible have slashed full time workers to temps, etc. Oh, and of course large companies use technology to make workers redundant. Look at how digital downloading/new media/the internet killed the music store, the dvd rental store, and is killing the bookstore and newspapers.

Speaking of Republicans, even the tea party, since you hate government regulation so much, then let businesses hire who they want to (immigrants). You cannot deregulate everything and refuse to allow the government in anything and expect the government to be able to regulate immigration or who businesses hire. The Republicans, including those now calling themselves tea party, in their RELUCTANCE to regulate businesses and have strong labor and immigration departments have created this situation. The true problem is that when these people become legal or when their kids grow up the vote for their interest (Democrats because they identify as poor and also don't like the racist speech use by those who currently call themselves Republican).

As for record, though I was born here, I do not call myself American. There's no real such thing as American. It's a political unit or a citizenship that I have by accident. I had my dna tested, and I am a combination of various African, European, and South Asian ethnic groups. I could go to any country in the Americas with lots of people of color and fit right in and no one would KNOW the difference. Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Venezuela, Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, etc. That's how I identify, with people I share the same GENETIC ancestry with.

You not calling yourself American is about as surprising as the fact that I felt hungry around 5pm today.

Citizen should not suffer due to the criminality of foreigners. We know who they are. Deport them at gunpoint by walking them over a bridge and punish those who employ them or have in the past. Simple.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Illegals come here for one reason only, to make money at the expense of US citizens. Take away the incentive and they won't come anymore.

Did you not read the the first sentence of my post? I'll repeat it:

Perhaps reading comprehension is not your best asset. By your own analogy this country is losing jobs due to the conditions that you described. How in the world is adding tens of millions of illegal invaders going to help the situation of those who are both citizens of this country and those that are here legally to find gainful employment. Or let me put it to you this way: Suppose you come home from grocery shopping and only have enough food to feed your family for a week when 200 people show up at your door and demand to be fed. Where in my post did I ever mention anything about government regulation or the lack thereof on businesses? It would take volumes to discuss which regulations are good and which ones are bad you'd have to go through every one of them and debate each one on their merits or detriments. Since you hate corporations so much maybe we should pass enough regulations on them that would bankrupt them into oblivion. I'll bet that would help the employment situation in America. Not only that who the hell do you think pays for all the taxes and regulations that are imposed on businesses. You do as a consumer you fool. You haven't addressed anything that I have stated in my original post and instead go off on a tangent on issues that I've never brought up until now at your urging. You've missed the entire point of my original post. I could care less about your ancestry but if you fit right in with any of those countries that you mentioned maybe you're better off living there instead of trying to turn this country into one of them. After all it is the type of government and political system that you support. Or is it that those countries can not support the standard of living that you are accustomed to here in the United States? If that's the case you are a hypocrite of the worst order. As for me I am an American first and foremost, damn proud of it and am not about to willingly relinquish our standard of living or the principles this country was founded on for the likes of you or people that think like you.

So let me ask, how many times have you been to Brazil, Paraguay, Haiti? How's your Portuguese? If I'm correct, you're openly gay? Yeah, I hear Jamaica is a real nice place to be gay. Gsy sex only carries a minimum of ten years in jail, and that's getting of easy if you're not caught by machete hacking citizens. I'm sure almost as nice as most parts of Africa and Asia like India, Afghanistan, etc.

Maybe to you there's no such thing as American. But not to me. I BBQ on the Fourth of July. I honor our troops on Memorial Day. I take my hat off at a ball game and sing the Star-Spangled Banner. I'm an American and I'm damn fckn proud of it. And lucky for you, one of the great things about our country (I don't know, maybe you don't consider it 'yours') is you are afforded the same freedoms as everyone else, even if you take no pride in this wonderful nation.

Yes!!! It's damn near impossible to argue with these fools they love putting words in your mouth but can never debate the substance of what you are trying to say. I thank God that I am not alone.

Why should the mayor care when POTUS doesn't? These people will only care when the masses vote and speak up.
