I get Bronx Times daily in my inbox and the pertinent recent news include (a) various cases of the Bronx residents formally protesting any appearance of more homeless shelters in the Bronx, incl a local politician Mark Gjonaj who just filed a lawsuit against the city, for unlawful concentration of homeless shelters in the Bronx compared with the rest of the city, and (b) the Bronx mayor Ruben Diaz Jr (whom I totally like even without this last move) wrote a letter to Jeff Bezos of Amazon (who is searching for the secondsry Amazon headquarters location), inviting Amazon into the Bronx. Let's keep the fingers crossed that these types of activities ultimately succeed. I do believe that welfare poverty and crime can be removed from the Bronx, and wouldn't call that gentrification but normality. What had been happening in the past 45 years in the Bronx isn't normal at all for any city.
