That doesn't sound too bad. It's still ongoing, but Italy's cited as an example of a country that really bungled their early response to it, but cracked down hard on it later, and are at 2,503 deaths so far out of a population of 60 million or so. They had their first documented case on January 31st and started locking down Lombardy on February 21st and then the rest of the nation on March 9th when it started being clear their healthcare system was being overwhelmed.
I read somewhere it's supposed to get better as it gets warmer--didn't find the original source where I read it, but here's a paper on coronavirus survival times on surfaces in general.

Given Purim wasn't so long ago, there's a chance this will be particularly disastrous for the Hasidic community. I can't find any links to corroborate this so far though.

I heard today the shelter in place order will come on Thursday as soon as all of our online classrooms are set up and the tech hardware is distributed to students.
Also heard late this afternoon that NYC confirmed cases are approaching 1,000 when they were only about 650 this morning. Things are evolving rapidly now.
