I like to tell myself Im being dramatic, and it just seems worse because its being sensationalized in the media, but Im not going to lie, everytime I walk to and from the bus stop and my office, I wonder if Im going to get attacked or caught by a random stray bullet. Its unsettling to say the least

NYC is returning back to it's crime days but that's just about it. There is no grit with this city as it is souless. At least back in the 70's and 80's we had the music, style, clubs, vibe, underground scene and charm to go with the crimes. Now we just have the crime.

And once again I urge you people to get out and vote responsibly if you want to put an end to this. If you vote for Hochul then you want this to continue. Think about your families, loved ones and the great city this used to be. This administration has ruined this city.

Been a long time coming, as I see it!

2008/09 ish: Obama speaks out against the Cambridge police dept. regarding a stop/frisk type incident and says they acted "stupidly." No American president had ever attacked local law enforcement this way. Obama has now fired the first "bullet," if you will, against American law enforcement.

2010-2013: Back in NYC, Bloomberg still has the NYPD aggressively policing the animals of NYC. Things are basically in check. However there are national wide questionable police events/shootings that Obama and co. continue to make racial w/police. Americans are taking note. So are NYers.

2014-2017: DeBlasio is elected by pimping out his black kid. He's a radical leftist that hates police but runs as a common sense moderate that will keep NYC "America's safest big city." Many fall for it. Eric Garner resists arrest and is accidently killed summer of 2014. BLM is created however the marches are very peaceful throughout the city. In fact the marchers walked thru the streets of NYC along with the police at their side. The death of Garner gives Deblasio his opening. NYPD are now the bad guys. But crime remains relatively in check, but the seed of chaos has been planted.

2018-2019: Blas wins reelection. By now he's totally at war with the NYPD, especially Pat Lynch the PBA president. Moral continues to get lower as cops feel betrayed. Events, like the one in Harlem in 2019 in which cops are doused with water with no repercussions, tell the city that the pols don't have the back of the NYPD and that thugs can get away with attacking and disrespecting LE. A HUGE TIPPING POINT!

2020: State passes new bail reform laws as of Jan 1. However crime is still sort of in check but there are signs of bad things to come here and there. Covid hits. City is on lockdown. Cops/nurses/1st responders all heroes! But then in the Summer, a criminal named George Floyd resists arrests and is murdered by a cop in Minnesota What that has to do with NYC? I have no idea. BLM is given a 2nd wind. They riot all throughout the country in partnership with Antifa. Cops in every city are literally under fire. NYC is a warzone against cops. Trump takes the side of cops. BLM/Antifa riot harder. Get full backing by democrats. Biden wins election. NYC still in lockdown but coming out of covid. People happy to just end the year.

2021: This is where it all goes so wrong. Having been attacked, assaulted and, in some cases, murdered...cops across the country become withdrawn. Cities like NYC now want to DEFUND their own police departments. The morale of the rank and file has been obliterated. Cops in NYC lose qualified immunity which means they can be sued by a thug and lose their home. Criminals of NYC have taken note.

2022: At this point the NYPD, even under new mayor Adams, is no longer policing aggressively. Everything is reactive instead of proactive. Criminals now can freely drive in any part of the city with NO FEAR of being pulled over for little "broken window" things like smoking weed, running a light, running a stop sign or speeding. The NYPD has pulled back entirely. Criminals now can carry weapons in their car...or even on their scooter!!! Additionally, under the fake guise of covid, it's normal for criminals to get away with wearing a mask while committing a crime. There is zero fear of being caught. And, thanks to bail reform, if you get caught it's no big deal. Diversity, equity and inclusion is what's most important in NYC....not safety. Young black/hispanic criminals have the greatest hall pass in the world. NYC!!!! They can't be touched. No street or neighborhood is safe. Cars can go anywhere. And the NYPD is happy to let it all happen. Why? Why the F not!

That, in a nutshell, is how we got here.
You spelled Fentanyl overdose wrong, but other than that, yeah pretty much.

Few people know or remember but the problem had to do w/the unintentional releasing of mental asylum inmates into the streets. This was done around 50 years ago by Geraldo Rivera who visited an insane asylum in Staten Island and conducted a bleeding heart program to get them free. NYS subsequently banned most forms of involuntary incarceration.

While Geraldo had good intentions, he did not realize the depths of his actions and their far reaching consequences. Now, the NYC streets are filled with violent lunatics living in their own fantasy worlds.

https://abc7ny.com/willowbrook-geral...tter/11575075/

Edit - As you can see in the original video, the behavior of these lunatics would not be out of place in someone you would encounter on a street corner or subway platform. Mumbling nonsense, touching themselves, having loud arguments with the wall, smearing bodily waste on themselves, and self harm.

no, the woke prosecuting DA keeps releasing repeat offenders and being lax on crime.

that's your problem.

democrats trying to create a socialist utopia by defunding the police and showing sympathy for criminals in an effort to reform them because women are largely using their nurturing tendencies towards refugees, illegal immigrants, and violent criminals, which will result in high levels of crime combined with social workers in power who decide what laws are legitimate.

welcome to your third world ****hole. you voted for this. you deserve this. Biden's america.

we don't have this problem in dallas. i wonder why?

1990 we had 2,262 murders. Doubt it we’ll get anywhere near half that.
