I've heard women say: "I don't have any female friends"....why is this?

I am not buddies or particularly "friends" with any of the women in the department I work with. It's one of those situations where an office is 98% percent women and we all get on each other's nerves. Therefore, I do not want to see any of them once I leave there at quitting time.
I maintain friends that I made in my last job, an even larger organization that was mixed with both sexes and all ages. The damn type of drama that I work in now was restricted to the small support staff but I thankfully had little participation in all that.
OP: I've never worked in healthcare but it sounds like the same scenario. But women in healthcare, particularly nursing, have a tendency to get burned out. Many are probably cranky and during their time off they likely don't want to do anything that reminds them of work, thus ruling out co-workers as friends.
