^^ I just took a pic of that yesterday and was going to upload it haha. This render looks to be about 30 floors My best guess would be this building is AT LEAST 350 feet then. Much better than the other render.

i'd have to disagree with you there. steve wynn has a really great track record with casinos, there's no way his casino would be anywhere near as crappy as sugar house.

Putting a much better casino next to sugar house would likely force sugar house to improve drastically and give us something even remotely resembling what they promised a decade ago or else their customers could walk right next door.

Blatstein's proposal is incredible and if he were somehow able to pull it off it would be great for the city. it is however by far the biggest gamble of them all. It is right in the middle of philadelphia if it fails, or if it struggles and blatstein is unable to implement some of the promised amenities, then it could set north broad back half a century.

If it's 1990 I'm backing the Provence 100%. North Broad was a hell hole, let's roll the dice and hope we come up winners. It's not 1990 though, it's 2013 and whether or not the Provence happens it's very likely by the end of this decade we're looking at a revitalized north broad that stretches up from city hall all the way to temple. why risk decades of urban renewal on this immense project?

sometimes you need to shoot for the stars, sometimes you just need to play it safe and smart. Wynn's plan is safe and smart. It won't be a slot-warehouse and hopefully it will force sugarhouse to put it's slotware house days behind them as well.

Plus if Blatstein fails to secure the gaming license he still owns all that property and will be looking to redevelop it anyway. It's win-win.

Why is Philly scared to build tall??? 350 is disappointing to me.

It's not "afraid" to build tall. The developers are building to what they feel the market demands. There are currently a 600+ foot Cira Center South Office tower being planned and a 600+ foot W Hotel being planned that we should see both rising soon. No worries.

I never understood why people are always saying we need to build huge buildings in Philly. I agree it would be nice but we need to fill up the vacant lots so anything, even if its modest is a good start.

Agreed while tall is good good infill is also good

More commercial even better IMHO, meaning especially if there is demand and more jobs as a result

I agree, Philly really needs some more quality retail. Something other then a Chinese restaurant or a quick loan place. Personally I would like to see Philly have a rebirth of good mid ranged priced stores that offer unique services. Over the decade a lot of that has vanished.
