I keep in mind even in our post 9-11 world, the SS hasn't been 100% successful at keeping intruders off the White House grounds. What breaches have happened that the public never found out about? Hence they are not the most competent bunch given their recent track record.
Yeah but the City never mentioned needing tickets for the events until a mere 3 weeks before he will be in town. So all those people that are coming from wherever and bought the train passes, now may not even be able to see him at the events because they weren't able to get tickets. Had they known they would just have to watch him on a jumbotron, they may have just stayed at home and watched it on tv. And like I said previously, they weren't even going to have ANY tickets available to the general public - they would just be at local parishes.

OK, my faith in humanity has been restored.

With his merry men, Dustin and David, the high school buddies from West Chester, New York, claimed four tickets then posted on Craigslist 'if you want them, tell us why.'

100 people responded with essays; now the winners will go for free.

I hear you. But the expectation that they were ever going to see him up close was always nonsensical.

Then they're like oh btw you also need a ticket to actually see the Pope and there's a limited amount. They weren't even going to have tickets available to the general public until everyone freaked out. The tickets are on Ebay too in the thousands of dollars, but Ebay is removing the listings for violating terms.

This whole thing is just so poorly planned. Rather than having a plan upfront, they've been figuring it out as they go along. When the public freaks out they're like ohhh nevermind, we'll do whatever you want. They should've had a system in place up front. For instance, can't transfer tickets, etc
Not doing the tickets with the train tickets is just stupid. A set number should have been made available for those who are getting in by train as an option.

All the issues is a direct result of not putting competent people in place to do that planning.

TV stations in Charlotte are announcing the tickets to see the pope in Philadelphia. They are failing to announce the difficulty to get into the city. Some people will have event tickets, some will have train tickets.

Congrats. I tried but the tix were gone within minutes. Please tell us about your experience on this thread.

I have no interest in standing on the BFP for the concert or the mass.

Yuppppp. FF tix sold out and they're already on CL and Ebay. I love the ones where people post them within minutes of buying them "oh I can't go." BS

I was online at 8pm for the Mass tickets tonight. At 8:01 I was "in line" and at 8:03 all tickets were gone. I like the lottery idea better than the first come first served system they used for these tickets.

Trying to figure out what they are setting up here. I am thinking that it is some sort of communication for cell service. They are just putting it up on parking spaces at a garage by Independence Mall

Yep, same thing happened to me. I wanted to try to get tickets and actually GIVE THEM AWAY to people that wanted them as opposed to sell them. Apparently they sold out in 30 seconds. You're coming from out of town, right? Did you get tix to any of the other events?
