In the midst of it all I wonder how much they will secure the Barnes, Rodin, the Franklin Inst, Academy of Natural Sciences, and the main Library branch.

More than likely that equipment will stay up & be part of a more extensive system for the Democratic convention.

I read they are instlling additional bandwith for cell phones in the areas where people are expected to gather in large crowds - it seems in other large events cell bandwith needed to be increased to handel the demand that may be it

I've been working at this location for close to 15 years. Never seen anything like this for past president visits or events at Independence Mall. Only reason why I think it has to do with cell phone is that I am hearing the cell company are concerned of over subscription with excessive usage with a large gathering.

Could be, but before the convention the secret service will have an extensive security system installed. They did it in Charlotte in 2012 & will do it in Philadelphia for 2016. If the secret service are involved with this they might be installing parts of the system that will be installed for the convention.

I would really like to understand the technology that supports purchasing tickets so quickly. Assuming it's like your typical web portal for purchasing, you need to type in a lot of information during the purchase process. How does this get done in 30 seconds? Presumably these are all bots of some sort, and no individuals manually typing were able to get tickets?

You only had to click a button to "claim" the tickets. You're given more time to enter information to finish with the purchase, and if you don't do it within whatever that timeframe is, they go back in the pot. But I'd imagine anyone that got through with clicking that button went through with their purchase. So the technically were claimed within 30 seconds (though the full purchase likely took longer)

Heh, thanks. Yeah sorry, I didn't go through the thread. I really meant it, I haven't given the parade very much attention, I thought I would just pop my question in the thread regardless if it had been asked before and just suffer the scrutiny from my lack of interest.

Glad he isn't riding in his glass carriage all over center city, luckily I live just on the fringe of the closed off roads.
