Wow yes, I remember the red gym shorts now from my days at Tonalea Ele.
My memories of yellow front are checking out the guns and Coleman stoves and lanterns and being excited about finishing my Az. hunter safety course at the Boys Club or YMCA so I could hunt deer with my uncles finally. I'm thinking the local Boys Club or YMCA was on Osborn west of Miller Rd north side? Doesn't seem to be there anymore looking at Google earth or maybe I'm wrong on the location. I remember getting my drivers licence on Osborn by the old red school house. It's another world now in that area.

I think the place failed because the food they served was not recipes from the Betty Crocker cook book. I thought every dinner they had was too fancy and too rich in fat and calories. I seem to remember they served international dishes instead of the basic American cooking from the cookbook. It was fun to eat there though. The building is now a thrift store I believe.

Was that located on scottsdale road just south of oak on the east side of the road?
Is it the goodwill now? I had always wondered about the weird layout of the building. If it was a restaurant that makes more sense.

Does anyone have any info on the building just south of it? It was a recardo's for quite a long time in the 80's/90's then several incarnations of bars following that. It is vacant now, but I worked there for the last 2 (Cateye & Shayna's). What was it orginally befor it was Recardo's (it was a mexican food place)?

Speaking of Town and Country, does anyone remember Jutenhoops? It was a jumble of just odd stuff, it always smelled like insense. I remember buying a LavaLamp there in re mid 80's with my first pay check from Chives ( a salad bar/ restaurant that was accross the street at The Collinade ) the summer of my freshman year of high school at Arcadia.

Caf' Casino was the way it was spelled?

I may not be asking the right age group, but does anyone remember the 2 night clubs that went in the Caf' Casino building on Camelback? Paradox, then it was later renamed The Grind? This would have been the early to mid 90's up until the tore it and the Cine Capri down.

Ok, one more. Does anyone have any info or pictures of the orginal restaurant in the building at 8040 E Mcdowell? It would be on the north side of Mcdowell just east of Hayden. It was orginally a breakfast restaurant or a Greek restaurant.

No pictures, but it was "Andros" which was both Greek AND a great place to get breakfast. Awesome omelettes, not sure how they got them so fluffy. Pleasant memory of that place; in 1976 my dad and I had breakfast there. We were going to meet an auto broker who was about to deliver him a company car, so I got to drive to school that morning (first time) instead of biking it. 16 and with a car!

The Boys' Club was on the northeast corner of Osborn at 75th Street, just east of the old stadium and a block west of Miller. During spring training 1978, senior year at Saguaro, I would ride past the stadium on my way to work, and sometimes stop by... free admission after the 7th inning. I'm a die-hard Cubs fan.

I worked at the YMCA from Nov 1977 until I left for the USAF in Sep 1982. Helped put me through college. 3019 N. Civic Center Plaza (74th Street). I don't remember us hosting any hunter safety courses, but we DID have a good scuba diving class.

Thank you for the Chives reminder, I was trying to remember the name of that place. It was sort of a strange set up for a buffet. One section in front on the parking lot side and then a desert? set up near the mall intrance. Didn't they have lots of muffins? My son was a glutton for them, seem to remember they had a lot of problems with people sneaking them out.

Fabulous muffins at Chives. The peach ones were a favorite.

The Tree House in Scottsdale was not in the building where the Goodwill store is now.
