Was at Costco a few hours ago saw lot of people with carts full of bottled water they were completely out of all brands of toilet paper. People are going nuts over this virus I was surprised to see it here in Phoenix. The death rates of Corona virus are minuscule compared to the seasonal flu which kills up 12000-61000 in the US each year.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to attribute it to the virus. Personally I loaded up on those items because I have out-of-town visitors rolling in for most of March and into April.

In other words, Costco is sending more of these items to other places where people are panicking, not because people here are rushing to Costco to buy all of that stuff. And why is it only Costco?

I stocked up not at Costco but another source because I knew this would happen. Better safe than sorry. I was at Walgreens and noticed the shelves were stripped of TP and water. Wife said people in Walmart were pushing two carts full. I don't get the water though unless people figure so many will be ill that the water treatment plants will have to shut down. Make sure to get some bleach. Bleach is liquid gold when the water supplies go out.

Anyway, Phoenix people will panic just like anyone else. Maybe we will be spared as it is already spring here. (joke).

Not sure if it was Costco only but I have never seen the store out TP I think they have 3-4 brands all were sold out. The employees didn't say the store was sending anything they told me it was because of rumors causing people to buy water, TP, and other things.

We had to stop at Walmart they had TP didn't seem to be out of stock the price was not as good as Costco.

Lot of this has to do with the media over blowing the impact this virus has reminds me of those Hurricanes where media goes crazy turns out to be nothing that's what friends who I know say live in Florida.

Yea, paranoid people are going to make others have to stock up or they may personally run out. From the link below: “Antiseptic wipes and Clorox disinfecting wipes are flying out of here,” he said. “We can’t keep those in stock.”

I've always been crazy about washing hands since we've had kids in daycare and now elementary school. I haven't been sick with a cold or flu since 2012 (I remember this for some reason), so I think that's the key. Also living in a state with zero current active cases lessens the worry as well.

Same here. My local Costco was a mad house this morning. There was a worker at the door holding up a sign saying they were all out of toilet paper. Just panic buying. I've heard other Costco locations are experiencing the same.
