Trying to “reduce their odds” ultimately just postpones the onset of illness.
Yes, that is what flattening the curve is all about. Postponing or spreading out cases so healthcare facilities maintain bandwidth. Forcing employees to report to an office where they increase their contact with others speeds up the spread, not to mention exhibits a total lack of empathy.

Progress! That's the goal (postponing the illness and smoothing out the peak demand).

If you are healthy and 29 years old and need a ventilator AND all hell breaks loose, they are saying it's a 60% mortality rate. No ventilator == >50% death.

Therefore, the dumb nose pickers and finger lickers will fill up the ER rooms/beds while the smart people lay low. Eventually, we ARE all going to see the virus. Now IF we had 30X more ER docs, supplies and respirators, let's all let it rip and let the chips fall where they may. Because at the end of the day, our immune systems are going to be tested. if we smooth out the demand for the beds and respirators, then the mortality rate will be a lot less.

Do you get it now?

".... He kept having a temperature and a bad, bad cough and when he started coughing up blood he got a test and a chest X-ray and they checked him into a hospital in Virginia because of a variety of things including very low oxygen levels which haven’t really improved. He now has pneumonia and is on oxygen but not a ventilator."

Super sad news for the MN senator's hubby.

So we are clear, our Prez is contemplating re-evaluating the current policy. Are we all ready to see how the chips fall? Because I predict that's where we are headed. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020...ronavirus.html

The problem is that the finger-lickin nose pickers won’t stay home while in “isolation”.

They’ll go to the beach, bars, and lake with the rest of the people in denial.
It’s nothing more than a chance to be off work and on vacation. They wouldn’t “flatten the curve” at all.

It is crazy that some patients almost have to be on their deathbed before a test is considered. So sad.

That's the whole point of all of this. We are trying to slow it down, not eliminate it. If we were to just carry on business as usual, hospitals would be overwhelmed and we would really run out of equipment. I thought this concept had been beaten to death, but time and time again I see people who really just don't get it.

It’s sad that you think so little of your employees. You’ll likely be left with far fewer once this is all over with. The good news is most of the places that you seem to think they’ll be galavanting off to are shut down, so yes, giving them the opportunity to isolate will absolute help us all.

We don't always agree, but you are spot on this one!

Without naming where you work, what type of workforce do you manage? Evidentially, you don't think too highly of them.

The neat thing is, this event has brought many people of differing views together. Most (still some nuts out there!) are treating this in about the same fashion. Even the “it’s just the flu” people have come around for the most part. It will be interesting to see what happens once trump moves further away from the health focus of this and on to the economy, if his parishioners will change their tune again as well.
