Not your fault. The story is/was being pushed out way before the whole picture (what else is new).

It may be that their purpose in life was to serve as a warning to others.

Others were surely contemplating this, as aquarium stores are doing a brisk business selling pond-grade chloroquine. Who knows how many lives this couple saved?

Well, PHX area is behind the curve because of their "live and let live attitude". That strength is their weakness. As in, the political leaders SHOULD be listening to the smartest people on the topic and executing the policies.

What we will learn in the coming weeks is that the policy of keeping things open will have a massive impact on the spread of this virus. It's coming. Soon, every 3 to 6 days (it's been closer to 3) this is going to double now when the virus takes hold. That's what is happening in NY and soon CA. Coming to a theater near you. PHX is not immune to statistics and science. VERY soon, a ferocious influx will happen with the "live and let live" mentality. The experts (politicians) have the resources of the smartest people on this topic. Hence, we are behind the curve. To those who assume it hasn't arrived, that's not what the medical experts on the ground floor believe. It's being spread right under under our nose as we speak. Meaning, the 100 deaths that happened YESTERDAY in the USA, were spread inconspicuously over the last couple of weeks. And in a few days, the 200 deaths that happened in a DAY also spread around 2 weeks ago.

Unless you have a technical mind and you are plugged in to what is going on, the concept is hard to grasp. But the politicians are plugged in. Expect to see thousands of deaths and our hospitals completely overwhelmed. There are much smarter ways to attack this and we p_ssed away our advantage on so many fronts. Let's hope for a miracle. Like the virus hates 95-100 degree weather (no one believes that one).

My source of info is my customers who are brilliant in their field. The one expert I spoke with yesterday is scared sh*tless. I've been spending hours researching this to understand what I should do. I've been getting ahead of the curve where I can. When those hospitals get overwhelmed (which is ANOTHER inexcusable topic), people are going to wish they took the "social distancing" more seriously.

If I was a boss and had employees working for me, I'd get myself up to snuff on the topic and passionately explain what the research is showing. And how the last place you want to be right now is around other people. This virus is a lot worse than the Flu. You will soon see why.
You say you're getting ahead of the curve...how? Are you quarantined inside and never leaving your house? Are you not touching your mail, packages, grocery carts and if you're going out are you walking around with a respirator with a hepa-filter? I'm not trying to be a d'bag but there are only so many precautions we can all take unless we're going to live in a bubble.

So what's the solution then? Seriously if you lock down the whole country we will enter a massive depression that would make the first one look like a party. We're already heading in this direction but there's still hope things can/will turn around but it will take years! People are panic buying now do realize the chaos this will create? Then how long do you lock everyone in their homes,2,3,4 weeks? How do you then know the virus is gone? Are we going to be able to go door to door and test 330,000.000+ people, obviously not. So we let everyone back into the streets after the lockdown and if one person still has this virus it will start to spread all over again. Do we just try to contain it the best we can (what we're doing now) and hope only x amount of people die and hope someone comes up with a cure? I honestly have no idea.

This is not an easy call and all these "experts" have the right to voice their opinions but we've never seen anything like this. China is opening everything back up now and how much do you want to bet they will see another breakout soon? Was a one month lockdown enough? It's so easy for everyone to sit back and blame Ducey or blame Trump or blame whoever but lets take a good look at the states who are infected the most. Maybe there is a good reason we needed to have better border security so something like this does not happen again? And I will leave it at that.

If you care to share, I'd love to know what type of folks you manage? Party-hungry-irresponsible-nose-pickers. I got that. But in what industry and how many? I'm curious.
Typical CD.

Instead of asking questions, myopic personal experience is assumed. I was very clear this applied to MY business and the self righteous rushed in to attack and indict, followed up by boring, snarky backpedaling.

Yaaaawn.

I'm confident that small businesses that employ hedonistic millennials share my experience. Utopia? Not even close. Simply a business owner who cares about the big picture, including employee's personal choices and the economy.

Candidly I'm thrilled with the new reality: That business owners actually have a say in their employee's personal decisions.

What's the Covid-19 situation in Scottsdale specifically; does anyone know?

No one is backpedaling. I'll make it very clear. You've done a wonderful job showing how you care more about yourself than the employees supporting you. Let's remember, these filthy nose-picking people that are stuck working for a boss lacking compassion and empathy have families, and they cross paths with others. While your eye remains on your own prize, you're adding exposure opportunities to all these people. Oh, I forgot, these earwax-pickers work in sterile bubbles. Carry on...

FWIW, my staff has been working from home for going on two weeks now. They're grateful and working hard. Our productivity has not changed at all. Occasionally we hear a dog or a kiddo in the background on calls. It's been sort of nice.

Once again: Myopia.

How is it "unloving" to make sure our employees are protected AND bring a paycheck home? (This is a service biz; people cannot work from home like you have the luxury of doing.)

If they don't work, they don't get paid. And why would I pay them for staying home if I believe it's truly in their best interest to come to work?

I've been staying at home but when I've poked my head out there's certainly not mayhem in the streets. Grocery stores are not stocked as plentifully as normal. Not much interest by the Scottsdale city fathers to shut down bars & restaurants but responsible one's have already done so or moved to takeout.

Golf courses for the most part are open, most other attractions are closed. Casino's too.

Anything specific you were wondering about?

lets change the mood here, shall we?

Saw this on Next-door yesterday..

This is America!!

The reports are that the truckers are getting supplies to the stores. People are stocking the shelves all night and letting old people shop first. Carnival Cruise line told Trump “We can match those big Navy Hospital ships with some fully staffed cruise ships” GM said hold our cars and watch this; we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week. Women and children are making homemade masks and handing out snacks to truckers. Restaurants and schools said, We’ve got kitchens and staff; we can feed kids.” Churches are holding on-line services and taking care of their members and community. NBA basketball players said, “Hold our basketballs while we write checks to pay the arena staff.” Construction companies said, “Here are some masks for the medical staff and doctors”. Breweries are making sanitizer out of the left-over ingredients. We thought we couldn’t live without Baseball, NASCAR, NBA or going to the beach, restaurants or a bar. Instead, we’re trying to keep those businesses open by ordering take-out.

What communist China didn't count on was America saying "Hey, hold my beer and watch this."

I think a Japanese Admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941, "I think we have awakened a sleeping giant."

Give us a few more weeks (maybe months) and we will be doing much better! And stop listening to the hysterical media!!

We have wonderful country and an amazing God.

I know we will be ok

Largely ignored.

Well, that’s not quite true. I don’t see a lot of elderly out and about. They seem to be the only ones with good sense.

Anecdotal reporting from a physician at the Mayo Clinic indicates they have one person in ICU. The staff is busy fielding calls from panicked people. Yesterday or the day before, azfamily.com said that Mayo was only doing testing on people who are already Mayo Clinic patients. That information doesn’t seem to be there any more.
