Just because a company isn’t vomiting out hoards of self-promoting fanfare through their PR depts doesn’t mean they’re not working hard behind the scenes.

but dont they have a responsibility to shareholders, who lost 40% on their 3M shares? The global need for masks has been rapidly increasing for years, well before Wu Flu was recognized. It cost 1.80 to make 50 masks...probably have a decade long shelf life...

So here's an item I've been thinking about: hospital stats and capacity. Anyone here know where to get Phoenix area stats and capacity data from reliable sources? I mean current occupancy not "we will need."

3M main production of masks are in CHINA. China basically said, we make them. Here is your $$'s and WE are your customer. i.e., unless something has changed, they are not letting them leave China. When 3M asked, they doddged the topic (I can find the article if people like). Same with France and another manufacture. In summary, American companies that make masks (in another company) won't send them our way.

Google: Mask Diplomacy" to find out where they are going.

And for some GOOD news. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/26/tech/...rus/index.html

Dyson designed a ventilator in 10 days. Going into mass production in April.

The state briefing today was rather sobering. Don't do any routine testing anymore. We don't have enough test kits. We can expect cases to increase dramatically peaking in mid-April with max hospitalizations and death in mid-May. Making it all worse: there is not enough protective gear for health workers or ventilators for the sick. Yet Ducey continues to drag his feet. It is going to be bad here by the looks of things.

I assume you figured out that a cost-benifit-analysis has been done. The last time I checked, dead people don't vote. Bonus, if people with health problems die, it saves money. Mix that in with avoiding a depression and the decision has been made. It's in motion. Yea, I'm nervous. I'm hunkering down.

We are not going ANYWHERE but a walk. I LOVE to cook and have been cooking all day. So I am trying to keep positive. I made a big batch of soup for lunch. Stir fry for dinner. Chili tomorrow. The trick is finding the right items in stock at costco.com or walmart.com. I can get out of dodge and drive to northern MN if need be at the drop of the hat. But I'm staying put for now.

We all need to keep things in perspective, at the current death rate I would rather get the Wuhan Chinese Covid 19 virus rather than the regular flu virus. Nothing was ever shut down and no one was ever laid off from the regular flu,no schools were closed, no bailouts were given and no freedoms were ever restricted also no stores ran out of toilet paper. Currently only 508 people have been infected in AZ and we have had 8 deaths, we had 875
deaths from Influenza and Pneumonia in 2017. So tell me based on present statistics which virus would you choose to get if you had to choose.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2018-2019.html
Over 34,000 died from the regular flu last year and over 35 million confirmed cases in the USA

Quote:
Conclusion
CDC estimates that influenza was associated with more than 35.5 million illnesses, more than 16.5 million medical visits, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths during the 2018–2019 influenza season. This burden was similar to estimated burden during the 2012–2013 influenza season.

This is why I asked the question above, is it all for projections? Is every ventilator in use? How many people are in ICU? How many in the hospital? Discharged? We need something simple like this:

Good grief. That post (skipping back one) is definitely not going to age well.
