CDC Death projects by state you have to use the drop down to set it to Arizona or the state you want. These are scientific models which are now becoming reality.

That's before any treatment. Which is now available. Also, compared to ~56,000 who die annually of the flu. This also means the data from China is 100% complete bogus. Why is that?

Some of the ranges for the projections on specific dates are huge.

For those of you who insist COVID isn't any worse than the flu...here's a doctor explaining why that is so wrong.

What treatment a ventilator ? Are you talking about Trump's Game changer drugs chloroquine which are based on a study from France where 6 patients recovered using the drugs.

Covid-19 has already sent many more people to the hospital in a short time then the flu ever has. Why are they running out of PPE, ventilators why are so many doctors and nurse pleading with the public you think that is all fake news. The shut down is not going to go away by Easter were going to be shut down until at least middle of summer.

They are big ranges one hopes it's to the lower side, but NY is looking like it will be toward the higher side of the range we will know in a week or so.

China records on average, 40-60 deaths a year due to the flu. In 2018, it was higher than average year due to a pneumonia outbreak of about 140 deaths.

Given that over 3000 'reported' deaths occurred due to COVID with the world's most militarily stringent quarantine measures and HALF a flu season, do the math on that. Let's see you do it if you were to 'equate' Chinese stats to American stats (for Chinese... hint: it's in the millions)

Of course, you probably didn't know China rarely uses the flu as cause of death. They'll use reasons like "heart stoppage". To illustrate, if you were to get shot in China and die from the wound, your death would not be attributed to a gun shot, but reason as "loss of blood".

With 45 refrigerated trucks semi-trailers parked outside of NY hospitals to receive and haul away the dead, is there still anyone out there who thinks this is "just the flu"?

That is a very scary scenario for Arizona. It would make us one of the worst hit states. The modeler clearly does not think that social distancing is effective and in my own observations it is largely being ignored by people in Arizona. So they may be right. Too bad. We are being lead blindly to our deaths by an incompetent governor and a health department that seems totally incapable of grasping the threat or marshaling any meaningful response.

The limited comments from the state suggest that their modeling is about two weeks behind this with respect to the peak and peak need for facilities. I don't know if that explains why the Gov has done little but lip service to this point.

At work we called it the "zombie flu" as everyone got it and it was quite bad. Makes you wonder if it hadn't been very active in Phoenix for a long time before the whole public escalation.
I had that back in late December and early January - the theory I’ve seen that seems to make the most sense was that flu was a variation of h1n1 - you were susceptible even if you had this year’s flu vaccine.

The spread of covid is doubling every three-four days, so it can easily zip across the country at amazing speed - it didn’t need to be here in December in force to get to every nook and cranny of the country now.

The easiest way I’ve heard so far to explain the phenomenon when something doubles that fast is to think about pyramid schemes.. getting rich quick.

The reality check to a pyramid scheme is that after just a few “levels” of magnitude , - if they really worked like the scammers said they would - the guy at the top of the pyramid would have all the money in the world at like level 20.

A virus is kinda like a pyramid scheme that actually delivers as promised sometimes. This particular virus is insidious in that with mild symptoms, you can be at “level 40” spread wise, and think you’re only at “level 25”. Without hundreds of millions of tests, you have no idea where you’re at on the curve.
