While this does appear to be more than a blip, the '1000 new cases' is a bit of a disingenuous headline. The 1000 new cases are from multiple collection dates. https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/e...ards/index.php(confirmed cases by day)

Further, the 8,455 # of tests reported yesterday includes serology tests. A person with a positive serology test may no longer be infectious.

Please correct me if I'm wrong or misleading with any of that. I do think the virus is a serious issue.

Seems like good info. Thanks.

I hope the antibody tests are what is causing the huge spike. I don't know why Arizona would be reporting numbers differently than the rest of the country to make us look like we're doing worse?

The increase in hospitalizations and deaths makes me think it isn't as simple as antibody tests being counted in the number of new confirmed cases.

It's not just Arizona with reporting inconsistencies. Other states have various issues. They don't know what to do with the data. It makes it difficult for normal people to understand what is actually happening. Sometimes I wonder if it's intentional.

Seems to be a lot of that going on: intentional? or incompetence?

I know, I know. 'Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.'

I do think that some of the data collection is impressive, so I find it frustrating when I can't simply decipher it in a meaningful way. I'm sure part of the issue is looking me in the mirror.

Other states are doing it as well.

It's frustrating as heck. Why can't we just simply report separately:

Positive Covid-19 cases vs. Antibody cases
Confirmed Covid-19 cases vs presumed Covid-19 cases.

How hard can it be?

And actually the rate of hospitalizations has gone down:

May 26 - 29
May 27 - 22
May 28 - 23
May 29 - 19
May 30 - 10
May 31 - 11
June 1 - 3
June 2 - 3

Lol, I guess we need to fact check the "fake news" on the forum also (not saying yours is wrong, I have no idea what is correct anymore). Someone just posted a link showing they went up. 1000 is a lot larger than the 3 you have on June 1st. Here is the link that was posted...
