I currently pay $2.00 a pack for a 'little cigar' (cheapest things I can get!) and remember my mother paying $2.50 a CARTON for my dad's Phillip Morris!

The drawing is way cool! How'd you do that? How were you able to get that space on your post?

High taxes are never a victory. And yes, I live in NY.

Californication is not a victory. NYC is not supposed to be some "den of health" - it's supposed to be "big and bad". If Bloomberg wants to turn NY into California so bad, why didn't he just decide to start his political career in California instead of NY?

Good to know. This means that Hudson and Bergen counties will benefit greatly from this legislation.

Wait until you naive leftists have your gas prices tripled (that will be a gain for the greenests). Wait until Obama signs in your cap and trade and you can no longer afford electricity. I was naive like you until recently. The government will go after things you think is good, but eventually they will go after something you cherish (and even a necessity) and you are screwed.

I don't care if it's unhealthy.

Sit on the sideline and say nothing, or cheer it on. They will eventually come after something you enjoy.

One thing I can say from experience is that there ain't nobody more rabidly anti-smoking than someone who managed to kick the habit. First was my late husband and second and third are two of my brothers. Big brother can stick it where the sun don't shine if he thinks I'm going to give up my pleasures (smoking and drinking) this late in my life. As I said to a friend of mine just this morning, "So what if not smoking or drinking extends my life another 5 or 10 years? Why would I want to bother if I have to give up the things I enjoy?"

Coupled with still-high commodity (hops, wheat, rice, barley) prices, that would not be good. You would be looking at a $10 six-pack. That could lead to an armed insurrection.

As nasty and rancid as cigarette smoking/smokers are, Big Tobacco still has way too much lobbying power in Washington, especially with a hypocrite smoker at the helm.

My suggestion to smokers - go into an abadoned building, rip out some asbestos and chew on that for awhile. It's one of the key components of cigarettes, so what's the difference? You'll save money and have a younger, better-looking corpse!
