The spending CANNOT go on as it is, as we will certainly face insolvency. Link federal spending to 75% of the previous year's revenue and be fiscally responsible.
The problem with being fiscally responsible is that the politicians have nothing more to "sell" in terms of spending to buy votes. Good- that is the way it should be. Being an American is not the guarantee from cradle to grave of security- it is the OPPORTUNITY to be or do whatever you want. Some may fail. That is life.

we need to institute term limits on elected office. representatives should spend no more than say 6 terms in congress.
for senators, we can either repeal the 17th amendment, and put the appointment of senators back in state legislatures where it belongs, or set a tow term limit on senators.

no i am not, you are just too dense to understand that i would cut EVERY GOVERNMENT PROGRAM. there is no more need for specifics. look at the federal budget for every program and every department, and then cut every budget and every spending program 15%.
Unemployment is already very bad. Imagine how much worse it would be if the benefits had been cut.
