It's not shocking. Anyone with half a brain already knows there are huge numbers of bigots in the Republican Party.

Does not surprise me, i have some very very good friends who live there. I have to say i love them, but their thinking is sort of backwards, if i can say that. They do think differently then i. I do have to say for the most part, the people i know who live there, are sort of on the racist side.

46% of Mississippi republicans huh? No surprise there. Honestly, if this poll was taken by some black and hispanic folks it would have atleast the same percentage. Smh, the ignorance in this country.

Pretty shocking to see such numbers 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and 50 years after the Civil Rights marches. I realize that folks might not care for a different culture (one either side), but to make marriage illegal!?

Yes. I've known Jewish people who think that Jewish people should marry other Jews. And I think most blacks marry other blacks, at least some believe that's better than marrying out.

A whole lot of people believe that people should marry someone similar in background, social class, beliefs, religion, and even race but not gender.

when i lived in Kansas City Missouri I dated a black lady, and the biggest racism she and i got were not from white people, but from other blacks.

racism come from all walks of life and not just from the whites.

Wow, can't believe some still people think this way...

The PPP poll shows that Mississippians aged 18-29 are more likely to think interracial marriages should be illegal than those aged 30-45 and those 45-65. The younger generation were pretty similar to those 65 and older in their views on the legality of interracial marriages.

Aged 18-29: 30% say interracial marriages should be legal, while 54% say illegal
Aged 30-45: 48% say legal, while 38% say illegal
Aged 55-65: 49% legal, 39% illegal
Aged 65+: 30% legal, 56% illegal

Republicans in Mississippi think interracial marriage should be made illegal, according to poll | Mail Online

I know plenty of black men right now that think it is ok for a black man to date or marry a white woman, but not ok for a black woman to date or marry a white guy.

how hypocritical is that?
