Certainly, within the limited confines of your understanding of economic viability. Outside of it... leave it to us.

Its the future, again.

You Dallasonians. Car crazed and empty-headed.
Moth, you must be from my part of Maryland. Although I split to NOVA many many moons ago. I think the govna is raising rates because Maryland's tax base over time has left the scene and this tax increasing frenzy (other tax increases too, like a flush tax?) is an effort at treading water.

I reside in the Peoples Republic of MoCo. Its fiscal insanity at both the county and state level.

My wife is from Montgomery. I grew up in lovely south PG. It took very little effort to skip across the Wilson Bridge some 24 years ago.

They'll be economically viable as soon as government stops interfering.

And contrary to what you want to believe, initiating a goal of shifting 85% of your over-the-road freight to rail would create 3 Million to 4 Million permanent good paying jobs including unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, semi-professional, professional, clerical and managerial jobs that cannot be "off-shored."

And there are numerous additional benefits to doing that.

Viably...

We already pay high taxes here and yet we are continually nickled and dimed for more. How much is enough? Why doesn't O'Malley try to tame spending? Is that concept really so bad, so undoable?

Now, take your ignorance and your hackneyed insults and get the hell out of here.
OK? And what are the consquences of higher gas prices? People tend to use less gas...... There are intended and unintended consequences to everything just so you know.

Or MD can not raise the gas tax and continue down its same path as government leaders, dems and repubs, are both equally good at wasting money.

Here in Texas we have the opposite problem, our taxes are so low nothing is funded properly and we have an exploding population which is recipe for disaster. Texas will be like Cali with all the overcrowded and inadequate infrastructure.

I don't use rail, why should I support it? I mentioned before the buses running around in my county, brand new with no one on them. You think that's an adequate use of taxes?

If you wanted to reduce oil consumption and reduce the wear and tear on our highways go right to the root of the problem, subsidize and provide incentive to use rail for freight. Although it's an obvious and most likely best solution that won't score political points compared to shiny new trains for commuter traffic will it?
