Hate to tell you but the US ranked higher in academic subjects years ago when there was no A/C in schools. We are in a slow decline according to international standards and fall lower each year.
Only in a Closed Shop state. Right to work states like Virginia means that I don't have to join the union.
I think a closed shop is just plain sad. It's like commanding someone to pay someone else for the pleasure of working there and earning a living for their family. If it was people, and not a Union demanding that you join up and pay, it would be considered extortion.
Technically that's what a Union is, legalized extortion.
Those big banks paid back the government. There were strings attached to those loans regarding salary/bonus so the big banks paid them back. That wasn't taxpayer money given out with those bonuses.

And yes I agree. I can't believe that a 16% raise is not good enough. 16% in these time isn't good enough. I had to read that twice as I thought it was a typo.
Unless you are a teacher you have no idea what teachers deal with on a day to day basis. Why anyone would want to become a teacher with the low pay they receive is beyond me. Teachers don't get into this profession to become rich. They do it because they care. But no one seems to appreciate them and just blame them for everything.
...if they do it because they care, they wouldn't sabotage the children's education so they could get a ****ing raise.
Yeah..they would have marched during the summer when school was not in session..right ?
That would interfere with their summer jobs .
