So that leaves 40% that aren't taking from the government..YET.
That, my friend, is a minority and it grows smaller each year.

But the economy is improving! Lawrence O'Donnell says so! Rising food stamp use with lowering unemployment is just a statistical fluke

Don't tell me they can't find a job because where I live people are begging for help. It is just that these jobs are "beneath" some people that expect to get a high paying job when they have no education and no skills. America will not get better until people are made to be responsible for themselves and their children.

There's no program I qualify for ....

I'm part of that 40%. But they can't get me for too much. Retired with no debts. Living the simple life out in the country on 45 acres with cows, chickens and a donkey

Life is good for me.... I went "Galt" in my own way. Took early retirement from the corporate world.
Pension and substitute teaching here and there and all my bills are paid with a little extra for fun money.

Not having any debt really does free you up.

By the way, Social Security is paid for by workers. We should get that back with interest when we retire. If we are not going to get it, it should not be taken out of our paychecks. This is different than social programs that benefit people who have not paid for them.

Actually, rising food stamp use with lowering unemployment is precisely the expected result when wages fall and rents soar.

Many more people today are underemployed. They are working part time rather than full time.
Part time work just can't cut it in the US so they need the food stamps and other programs.

Don't assume they are not working. This is the new America.
Our standard of living is coming down but prices aren't.
