No, when they get sick they will get canned.

Most people who are sick come to work, and they don't get "canned."

When should they replace their building, every 5 years or so?

“I’d tell Papa John's' CEO, ‘Welcome to the club,’” Martin said. “We’ve battled the whole way giving health insurance to employees ever since we could afford to do it 9 years ago, as a two-year-old business.” (Link)

Ian's Pizza has a guaranteed customer, if I happen to see a location.

Who knows who cares...its not the governments job or right to force us to get health insurance,go ahead fine me I ain't got a thing to fine so whatever....its gonna be like trying to get water from a stone...You want to live in a socialist society go elsewhere that's not what America is about...want health insurance to be cheaper get the governments boot off their throat and it would be...

In Florida no it didn't pass it did in other states though.

It is, I agree. ACA provides a tax credit for small businesses to buy insurance for their employees, so there's a push-me pull-you incentive operating.

Might be an interesting experiment: small breakfast cafe next door to a Denny's franchise owned by Mr. Outraged. The cafe's employees are covered, so healthier and happier, more loyal and stay on longer. Meanwhile, the part-timers at Denny's are treated like sprockets in a machine and they know it. Whose customers are going to get the better service, I wonder?

I'm all for it. I feel like a lot of variations on regional cuisine are kind of dying out in the US and this could be a serious booster. It's also a lot better since money isn't getting funneled into headquarters way the hell away.

And that is almost the context of the link I posted moments ago (above).

Martin, a part owner of Ian’s Pizza, a pizza shop with four locations in Wisconsin, said his business has offered full heath care coverage to its 50 full-time employees for years, making it all the more difficult to compete with national chains like Papa John's that pay workers low wages without health benefits.

"This may level the playing field for us,” Martin said of the Papa John's price hike. “If they have to pay for benefits, and that pushes their prices up closer to ours, it will justify what we’ve been paying for and what we’ve been fighting to do the past few years.”
(Link)

Obviously, 10-15 cents won't cut it, but the point hits home. A smaller business does it what a big corporation is whining about. I'm not a big pizza person, but will surely visit Ian Pizza with any opportunity.

I personally salute 57% of small businesses who have taken steps to respect their employees. And those who have wanted to, but couldn't and now just may be able to. If I had access to a list of these businesses, they will get priority for doing business with me over ANY other.

It's not a bad idea, now you mention it - maybe a window decal like the Visa insignia on the door, informing customers that employees within have health insurance? Or something similar on websites like Urbanspoon? Something to make it easy for patrons to identify small businesses which provide their employees with coverage would be a great thing.
