Like I said in the other thread, they're merely itemizing. Anyone who thinks the cost of employee provided health care isn't added to the cost of the end product is too stupid to live.

But why that particular expense?
Will they start itemizing other overhead costs?
Like heat, or building lease, or cost of trash pickup?
I work for a group that owns about 90 fast food restaurants across the country. Obamacare could bankrupt them. They have over 4000 employees, half which aren't offered health insurance. They have until April to reduce everyone to 30hrs or less. They have been scrapping by the last 5 years. No margins in dollar menu items, which is now the bulk of their business as everyone wants cheap food.
Meetings with consultants have been begun and a plan will be in place soon. I'm sure we aren't the only ones doing this. Going to suck for the hourly employee who is easily replaceable with a part timer.

For the people that didn't think there would be some *disruption* caused by one of the biggest pieces of legislation to come down the pipe since the new deal.....what have you been smoking?
The big question is how many of the affected are going to be p*ssed and view the changes negatively?
There is going to be a big political push on to demonize somebody for the bad parts of the disruption, may have a big impact on the 2014's.
I seem to recall another "surcharge" some places were specifically adding and highlighting awhile back, can't remember exactly what, but it's just a way for people to publically complain about something. Until now I haven't heard about it happening anymore so whatever it was fell by the wayside just like this will.
What would be fun to see, even temporarily, is PURE PROFIT being highlighted on everthing we buy . It would open some eyes I'm sure.
You're comparing the yoke of this sweeping tax with a water bill? Must be Perrier water.
Dude, it's an analogy. Try to keep up. Expenses are part of doing business, and all businesses pass on their expenses to their customers. This is no different. Mostly, they don't trumpet that their suppliers have raised their rates, they just adjust their prices as necessary.
This guy isn't even choosing to incorporate this expense, so why the 5% surcharge?
So this guy has uninsured employees working for him, at subsistence wages..... the taxpayer is already subsidizing his employees, just like the taxpayer subsidizes Wal-Mart's employees.
All these businesses moving to implement cost increases, wage and hour reductions before "Obamacare" even goes into effect are looking to boost their bottom line and cash in, period.
"Workers" are only as useful as they remain useful. Once every manager realizes they can extract more for less, they do so.
In West Palm Beach, run of the mill restaurants like his are a dime a dozen. HE (not Obamacare) might end up putting HIMSELF out of business!
Why not let the markets work instead of government always playing MR MARKET?

The other increases in the cost of doing business might have to be associated with the corporations they worship or in some industries like trash pickup the 'moustache boys'!
I don't have insurance. I've rarely been provided it by employers. And I've never expected it from them. I work for a wage. My employer is not my mommy and daddy.
Well, if you're taken care of by your mommy and daddy, you obviously don't understand the situation of tens of millions of Americans on their own.
Obama raises taxes, businesses raise surcharges. You're doing a heck of a job, Bommy.
