I was asking you. Why would you carry a gun, if not for shooting?

Isn't it great when someone admits they're wrong about something? Too bad it happens so rarely.
You only admitted to being wrong because I called you out on it.

Millions of possibly robberies have been thwarted by just showing you have a gun.

I know that disappoints you, but no matter how many times the left says that every gun owner want's it to be like "in the movies" it just is not true....RESPONSIBLE gun owners will do everything they can to NOT shoot someone. Again, sorry to disappoint you...

as long is was all the same race killing the same race. If it Is a white man or white cop killing a black or latino, there would be a firestorm. Obama will even appear and make a statement.

Ever wonder why gangs do not invade sparsely populated rural areas? And it has nothing to do with guns.

They have no interest in miles of open space, crops, livestock, chickens or horse farms. Gangs need people. Gangs need protection, the sort that can be found in vacant inner city dwellings and alliances. Gangs need easy ingress and egress. Access to highways and public transport are pluses.

And most of all, they need a large population base who demands their product. Nothing quite like car load after car load of white suburban folk with money looking to score. They need the loners who arrive on public transportation and are willing to venture into the hood in desperation for the product being sold. Ever wonder why it's highly unusual to read about white people being shot in these gang infested areas? Gangs intimidate and yet protect their customer base.

Most of these shootings are intended to be gang on gang warfare/turf/reputation protection and retaliation and sometimes innocent people get shot. Some of it is renegade activity that gangs do not control. It's not like gang members are skilled marksmen. Impulse control is a huge issue. Think of preschoolers calling each other doo-doo heads, except they are carrying loaded guns and have no concept of, let alone expectation of reaching adulthood.

Plenty of people own guns in Chicago. Some of them actually have permits to do so. Legal concealed carry in the state will soon be possible. Open carry is prohibited in most states.

It's not possible to legally buy/sell/trade guns within the city limits. No problem in nearby suburbs and Indiana. Straw purchases are common. So are robberies of gun shops. People sell guns out of their trunks in the alleys in some neighborhoods. Gangs are not concerned with laws.

Unlike NYC, Stop & Frisk is not practiced in Chicago.
