and it's wrong to teach a girl that the most valuable thing she has can be lost by a few minutes of in and out. that's terrible. instead of these days stalking their daughters "purity", why not emphasize the things that will make her a wonderful, valuable person all her life.
Plus, the horrible thing with that attitude is that if the priority is on virginity, a girl is "ruined" by one mistake. No one should have to live with that--we're all human and sex isn't dirty or bad--it's a natural part of life. Besides--what happens if you're raped or sexually abused? The next step is to slide back into the dark ages (or the modern Taliban) and stone her to death for being sexually active, even if it was against her will.
My dad and I entered a father-daughter cake baking contest once and my own daughter had a sock hop style dance with her dad when she was a girl scout. I think both of those thing modeled better behavior and were more wholesome than a purity ball, which is just creepy and focused on sex. Why do religious people focus on sex so dang much?
I think a man who needs a virgin is insecure...I understand the reasoning in a way but I think it's more of a cop out than anything. Personally, I didn't want to go through the work of training a virgin to do things exactly how I liked. I never minded my woman being preseasoned.
Really? No drinking? No self-help books even? No Oprah? ...cats?
Now you're just being...odd. The conversation was about making decisions about my own body vs. having an outside group set rules for me. And for the record, I've been married for almost 30 years.

Many of us can structure our own lives. It's not that hard but yes, I have a cat.
