OK, that would also be most on both sides, leaving the ME alone would also be great advice for Obama.

Obama's "Arab Spring" BS cheerleading has been an abject failure, showing his gross lack of understanding of policies, culture, history and various factions within the ME.

I do agree that several Republican War Hawks( especially McCain, Lindsey Graham) are wrong on many aspects of this also.

So the US is going to "lead" this effort but with no boots on the ground.

Does that mean the US will direct other countries' armies on who, what, where, when to attack ?

Yeah..right. I'm sure these 40 countries are just going to turn their troops and military equipment over to the US to "manage" for them.

Nothing like a war you start but have other countries put troops on the ground to fight it for you.

Again..there is no document and Congress has not passed anything.
It's all talk that you read about in the MSM.

The CIA has been covertly training and arming "rebels" since 2012.

Everybody in DC seems to be chasing their tails and either don't know what to do or don't know why they want to do what they want to do. That covers both parties.
ISIS are the lowest form of human life in the rectum of the world. They aren't a threat to us here. Yes, Obama is clueless and effete and certainly not the guy you'd want to turn to in a crisis. But blaming him for passing the buck and doing what he's told to do isn't going to solve the problem. We have to lean hard on our elected leaders and representatives and make them do what we want them to do, not what they want to do. I say we stay out. Drone strikes and threatening the gutless Iraqis over there to handle their business or else face sanctions should be enough. No ground troops, no arming rebels allied with ISIS so they can overthrow Assad and kill more civilians. Whoever suggested doing that down in DC needs to be recalled or be fired.
And tell them to **** already about a border threat and ISIS coming here. It won't happen. These guys are less of a threat than Al Qeda or the Taleban or the Iranians. Yeah, the Iranians. Remember them? Why have we suddenly forgot all about them?

French jets begin spy flights over Iraq

http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News...-campaign.html

France has joined Britain in carrying out reconnaissance flights in support of the U.S. air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Iraq, the defense minister said on Monday.

“This very morning, the first reconnaissance flights will be carried out,” Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told French troops, including pilots. According to the minister, the flights are being carried out in agreement with the Iraqi authorities.
Yeah, reconnaissance flights sure are an active part of the war. from 20,000 feet in the air. Real supportive.

I guess in your world, and Obamas, anyone who does not disagree with this "plan" is signed on as a coalition member whether they intend to do something or not.

The Kurds are warriors and the Peshmerga will fight - BUT, they will fight at their own border - they are not going to advance into the the rest of Iraq to fight ISIS/ISIL (which of course is NOT Islamic).

No surprise that Kerry is saying - "it's not appropriate to start announcing" which nations will participate and what each will do. He is essentially counting any country that says they are against ISIS/ISIL as a "member of the coalition" in his group of 40.

I've really only found 2 countries that are willing to "fight" - Iran & Syria's Butcher of Damascus.

Since when is it "pessimism & negativity" to point out the facts of the matter that are well documented?
Obama made the "Fantasy" statement in an interview with Tom Friedman of the New York Times.
The News reported that the Iraq Army 'cut & run' when they were attacked by ISIS and that's a big reason that ISIS now has state of the art US Military Equipment. I don't make this stuff up -

Not Exactly the case -

What exactly does "any means necessary" really mean? Most of the Mid-East news organizations are quoting the agreement the 10 Arab Leaders actually gave and it doesn't include ANY Military actions and fails to mention the "any means necessary".

Ten Arab states commit to “share”
US-led fight against IS - reported by AFP
(this is the France AP type organization)

In the final statement, the 10 countries and Washington declared their "shared commitment to stand united against the threat posed by all terrorism, including the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.”

Participation in the fight will include "as appropriate, joining in the many aspects of a coordinated military campaign against ISIL," said the statement.

The fight will include "stopping the flow of foreign fighters through neighboring countries, countering financing of ISIL and other violent extremists, repudiating their hateful ideology, ending impunity and bringing perpetrators to justice.”

It will also include "contributing to humanitarian relief efforts, assisting with the reconstruction and rehabilitation of communities brutalized by ISIL, supporting states that face the most acute ISIL threat.”

It's interesting that the "as appropriate" reference to military campaign is NOT included in the article from the Gulf News and is also missing form several of the English version of KSA news.

About Russia .... NOPE, they are sure not on board with this. That shouldn't surprise anyone, Russia has been supporting Bashar al-Assad (and arming him) from the beginning. They are not going to support any air strikes in Syria .... in fact, they will go to the UN Security Council to stop them.

World reactions to the US’ planned ‘war on ISIS’ - Al Akhbar - English

Russia: US airstrikes in Syria “an act of aggression”

Russia said on Thursday airstrikes against ISIS in Syria without a UN Security Council mandate would be an act of aggression, raising the possibility of a new confrontation with the West in coming weeks.

"The US president has spoken directly about the possibility of strikes by the US armed forces against ISIS positions in Syria without the consent of the legitimate government," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said. "This step, in the absence of a UN Security Council decision, would be an act of aggression, a gross violation of international law."

It's always important to understand the background of any Mid-East media - Al Akhbar began in 2006, claims to be "independent" but it's founding Editor was pro-Hezbollah, pro-Syria. It is located in Beirut, Lebanon. the key to figuring out what is really going on in the Mid-East and MENA is to find opposing view Media and when they agree on an event ... you know it's the real story.
