Why don't the Americans just reduce their salary expectations accordingly, then?
It sounds like Americans want Trump and the government to force employers to hire them at a higher price than what the free market wants to provide. IE: socialism.
No, we want our country to be for us, not for everyone else. We want to be paid FAIR market wages, instead of having people committing crimes (ie illegal aliens) that causes them to compete for the jobs. The correct term for it is patriotism.
And no Trump is not who I want fighting this issue. I doubt he is sincere, or capable of doing so.
Oh and as for "Americans wont do them" I picked strawberries as a kid, and worked at a chicken processing plant in my 19-21 yr old days. Americans DO do these jobs.
most of us realize those picking the produce now are not here legally and where do you get the idea he only wants to deport the do nothings. He has said, more than once he will deport all illegals. I have yet to hear him say anything about a worker permit program.
There is already an agricultural guest worker visa program that has no caps on it. Yet there are sleazy farmers who refuse to use the visa program and instead opt for cheap, exploitable, illegal labor. When those sleazy farmers lose their illegals, they have no one to blame but themselves.
As for Americans taking those jobs---Americans, indeed, to pick crops. However, how is an unemployed inner city resident going to get to the fields if they don't have reliable transportation? And in some cases, even if they had transportation, much of their paycheck would be eaten up by gas costs and car maintenance. Plus it's seasonal work and most Americans want year round work.
With the current average farm worker wage of $10.80 if we tripled the farm labor wage to $32.40/hour three things would happen; lots of Americans would be looking for a job, the price of a head of lettuce would go up by $0.32 from $2.00 to $2.32 and unemployment would drop to 2%..
But how does vocal support for illegal immigration actually pay illegal immigrants any wages if Republicans are the primary people paying those wages?
I am very sympathetic to illegals but I haven't hired any illegals. So even if I dont' want to deport them, I also offer no incentive to an illegal to come to the US to begin with because I don't run a business.
Point is, I really think the illegal immigration issue is almost entirely the fault of right-wing business people.
No right wing business people, no illegals. Liberal sympathies for illegals comes way after that starting off point.

No way will Politicians back this " Executive Order" to get supported ( either side in a majority)..Maybe Trump's supporters will donate to Trumps Cause..call it a "Donation for the Nation" campaign and maybe get a Tax Credit or deduction for it

But I was talking about legal H1B visa holders, not illegals. Trump wants to reduce legal immigration as well as illegal immigration.
H1B visa holders seem to be competing for jobs perfectly fairly with Americans, so I see no reason for Trump to cut down on H1Bs. Heck, in most cases, H1B visa holders probably come from low-income countries where getting a computer science or medical degree is a VERY impressive feat. Meanwhile, Americans with those same skillsets probably have a much easier time of achieving the same educational backgrounds
Trump's complaint about H1Bs is that the foreign workers offer US corporations a lower labor price. But so what? That's capitalism. If I go into a store, price matters to me. I will balance quality vs price to purchase something. I don't want some orange skinned man coming into the store and forcing me to buy a higher priced product.
Imported cheap labor of any kind shouldn't be a factor in the free market.
???? But a truly free market requires the free movement of labor as well as goods. That's why classic libertarians advocate for open borders.
