Of all the fake, drummed up controversies, this HAS to be the most ridiculous I've ever heard. Is there anyone out there who doesn't do everything they can to pay as little taxes as legally possible? Is there anyone out there who doesn't look for every deduction or take advantage of every loophole available? Don't blame Trump for legally not paying any federal taxes ( if in fact that is the case )... blame the laws and the tax code that permitted him to do it, or better yet, blame the politicians who wrote it to begin with. It goes back to the old adage, don't hate the player, hate the game.

This is just more of Democrats doing what they do best; Creating a culture of victimhood ( i.e. why am I paying taxes and someone like him isn't ), railing against the rich and promoting class warfare, and purposefully sewing the seeds of division. It's pretty sad...

So if it was legal, what is wrong with what Trump did? Can someone please explain that to me?
50% of Americans don't pay their favor share. It's single middle class working folks that don't get any tax breaks. Many Americans actually make a profit with all the deductions. The IRS needs to be abolished. I think it's ridiculous that we have to pay more of our hard earned money to file and pay others to figure out the complex tax code, but too many people are enjoying the system to want any real change.

Actually, the tax code creates millions of victims.

Only the ignorant pay more in taxes than is necessary.

Remember, there is a difference between ignorant, and stupid. One can be fixed, the other cannot.

No one pays more than they have to, but the problem is the hypocrisy wit trump berating others for not paying and then it turns out he is not paying either

We know the tax preparers the Obama's and Clintons hire, make sure they take every little tax break possible. Bill Clinton once claimed his used underwear that he donated to Good Will as a tax deduction.

I personally don't claim all my charity donations, it's just too much of a hassle for the few bucks it would save me. I also don't file taxes with every state that taxes me, so I probably lose a hundred or so dollars each year, because of all of this.

Every investor has losses and gains.

If investments were always a sure thing, they wouldn't be nearly as profitable when they do pay off.

It's how you manage the losses and turn them around that makes you a successful investor.

if you believe that is fair, then fine, but I dont.
How is making some people pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than others do "fair"?

Why should I pay a higher percentage if I make 100k a year than you do if you make 50k a year?

Why should any American pay a higher percentage than any other American?

Sure, plenty of people do, or some people do.

Lots of people, including my mother, don't claim charitable deductions even though they itemize.

Yep. I claim neither my charitable deductions, nor the expenses I incur when working charitable fundraisers.

So if we accept taxation as a society, than the object becomes to enforce this necessary theft equally, to all contributors, proportional to their income. That is what is fair. Everyone pays X%, and the rest is yours to keep. That is "doing your part", which is where we disagree.

You seem to believe that rich people should have to give more and more and more, under no justification other than they can afford it. How high a bracket is too high? 50%? 75%? 99%? Where do you draw the line and how do you justify that number? What criteria do you use to determine when the rich have paid their "fair share"? Because without justification, it is THEFT, and the lesson, reduced to it most simplistic form, is that it's ok to steal from anyone that can afford it.

Without justification, it's nothing more than a Liberal talking point that they use as a wedge issue.
