Scalia said that flag burning was protected by the constitution. Try again.

Being offended is different from making it illegal.

Trump wants the one doing the burning to be sentenced to prison.

See the difference?

Something controversial will OF COURSE offend people...maybe even most people. That's why it's done! And that's why there is a protection of free speech. If most people agreed with it, there would be no need for legal protection of it. Capiche?

Wow. Do Trumpers just pull this stuff out of...wherever?

This is of course a lie. Scalia was one of hte Justices signing onto the landmark decision that rules that burning the flag is protected by the First Amendment.

It's obviously not disgusting to everyone.

I wouldn't do it. But it is a political protest of sorts. I understand it. It's a symbol. It's not the country. I view other things more seriously....things that actually harm the country. Closing election locations so as to deny some people their right to vote, for instance. Shortening the early voting period, so as to deny some people ample time to vote.

Default Trump Says Flag Burners Should Lose Citizenship or Spend a Year in Jail

There is nothing wrong with protecting the symbol of freedom for your country from idiots.

The last I checked this was Trumps opinion not his policy. I think the flag burners should get a kick in the butt from a Veteran that bled for ol glory. it is the ultimate irony that those who trash the symbol of our country have the right to do so because someone stood up to fight for that very symbol.

There are people I know that say Trump is going to trash the first amendment because he says that flag burners should go to jail or pay a fine. Get real people and chill out. Trump is not taking away your rights to burn the flag or to wear it like a diaper but don't be surprised if someone that is Patriotic takes major offense to that and beats you.

Since Nov8th there has been a resurgence in Patriotism so watch out all you people who trash and dump on America.

Trump also wants them to lose their citizenship. That's worse than jail for many people. I guess he's got the idea of deporting in his head. Not sure where he'd deport a natural born citizen.
