I agree with the general sentiment that it was an utterly stupid, foolish 'joke', and if it ruins her career Ms. Griffin has no one to blame but herself.
No one should 'joke' about the death of a President of the United States.
Even her apology fails to move me. It was such a calculated action involving preparation that it cannot be passed off as a 'spur of the moment' action. It was malicious aforethought.
Glad to see last night on Twitter people of different political sides condemning this action.
Yes, she went too far. Totally trashy and tasteless. And it angers me because it gives conservatives another excuse to carry on with the manufactured outrage.
And it's funny, because I can't recall any right wingers complaining about all of the Obama effigy burnings and hangings:
That is the major issue here. The actions of Griffin are her actions alone. She doesn't represent the entire Liberal movement. What she did was reprehensible, and she has been rightly called out, and has since apologized for her stunt. The difference is, any time some idiot does something similarly disgusting, but directed at a Democrat, Liberals like to make the case that the person speaks for all Conservatives. They don't. Those people were called out during the Obama administration, and many politicians, and political commentators condemned the similar actions directed at Obama. That is the major difference. It's wrong for either side to do, but Liberals like to attribute the actions of one individual to all Conservatives, but then shout "they don't speak for me" when someone on the left goes too far. You just can't have it both ways.
Conservatives get rightfully angered by something like this = manufactured outrage. Liberals physically attack Trump supporters for simply attending a campaign rally = justifiable anger. This is why Clinton lost. This is what brought you a President Trump. By all means, carry on.
I don't know what I find more offensive, a bloody Trump face or a normal Kathy Griffin face. I guess she gives hope to ugly people who want to get into the entertainment industry.
CNN is keeping her on the NYE deal. NBC didn't even mention this on the 6:30 news. Personally, I think it's reprehensible, and that she should be charged with threatening the President.
I didn't like Obama, but the media would gin up riots if this was a conservative commentator doing the same to Obama. I didn't want Obama dead, and this goes way beyond saying "I want him dead."
The left is becoming increasingly delusional and self-marginalizing.
Why should an apology even matter, it's just words. It doesn't mean anything. Criminals do this all the time looking for mercy and they don't regret anything.
She isn't stupid, she did what she did knowing what would happen, so she needs to own it.
The manufactured apology sans makeup to make her appear disheveled and upset is even worse, assuming people are idiots who cannot see through it.
The photographer owns it, she should too. No apologies necessary, maybe they can double down and produce the rest of the mutilated body, as art.
There were also two tweets by Griffin afterwards - that she deleted, before making a general apology. You may have to go to the link to see them. One talks of blood coming out of his eyes, the other tweet is where she begins to backtrack - saying that she is only mocking Trump.
