I'm leftist and I'm like uhhhh. No one is saying she can't exercise her free speech.
Regardless of Trump, he's still the sitting President.
But on top of that, it's just a human thing. The guy has a family and kids and friends. But no one is saying anything about free speech here.
But, like others who post things that are hateful, she deserves the consequences of her actions now. She willingly knew what she was doing. She literally made a video about it showing multiple people working on this. Then offers an fake apology when even the left were attacking her for it. She thought even the left would back her up on this one, that's why she did it.
But there's a difference between "Trump is a racist bigot" and "Oh look I'm holding Trump's bloody cutoff head like I'm in ISIS".

And it's not just some people here on the forum. They are out walking amongst us too.
The only good thing I can see out of what Kathy Griffin did is that we now have a line established.
And with that line we can see who is on what side of that line.
With such a deep seeded hate of a line we can see who is good and who is evil here on the forum and out in society.
For those of you who bring up freedom of speech would you still be spouting that if someone did this with a head of your mom, dad, or children?
I highly doubt it.

The only gig she does is New Year's Eve for CNN, is that right? It's not like she's a reporter.
I think it's likely she wasn't going to get that gig back anyway. She's awful, and even Anderson Cooper can't save her when she acts like an idiot on that special.
with as quickly as news is happening these days, come december 31 will anyone even remember what kathy griffin did? thats 7 months away, converted to trump years it's what....7 years? i'm sure my math is wrong
CNN is keeping her on the NYE deal. NBC didn't even mention this on the 6:30 news. Personally, I think it's reprehensible, and that she should be charged with threatening the President.
I didn't like Obama, but the media would gin up riots if this was a conservative commentator doing the same to Obama. I didn't want Obama dead, and this goes way beyond saying "I want him dead."

I watched part of Early Start (CNN's 4am-6am EST program) and Christine Romans said that CNN was 'reevaluating' re NYE. Also, her co-host Dave Briggs read a quote from Anderson Cooper, with Cooper vehemently denouncing what Griffin did, etc. Another CD poster wrote that all of the people on New Day (which follows Early Start) were quite critical of what Griffin did.
While it was supposed to be a joke by a comedian, it was no laughing matter. I am glad she has apologized as she should have. Things like this are not good. Whether it was Kathy Griffin, Wayne Allyn Root at at Trump rally fantasizing about Hillary's death, Trump adviser and regular rally speaker Al Baldasaro calling for Hillary to be put in front of a firing squad, or Donald Trump's insinuation that gun owners take Hillary out. None of this is acceptable.
