Bemoaning big government while simultaneously advocating using government power to force children to repeat an oath of loyalty. The lack of self awareness is astounding.
Along with teaching young people real-world skills like reading, science and mathematics, the school system exists to teach then how to conform to societal standards making them good worker bees and obedient citizens in the real world when they become adults. It's our job as parents to teach them alternatives to those expectations so they can become free-thinkers and make their own decisions as adults.

Well, this country sucks and doesn't offer much freedom or liberty anymore, so really no values left to respect.
Maybe once we get rid of the dictator in the White House, the Republican traitors in Congress, and the cave-dwelling cult that enables them, we can return to respect what American is supposed to stand for.
Until then, we're no better than 3rd world dictatorships.
