The bank supposedly red flagged the transaction and sent referral form to Treasury
And that was likely sent to Mueller because of the Cohen/Trump connection I imagine--
Obviously no one told Mnunchin...
Mueller forwarded to Rosenstein who authorized investigation by SDNY
So w/o a bank loan by Cohen of some kind for some reason the referral would not have been initiated
Now maybe Cohen was counting on using that money exactly for something to do with his house or condo or whatever NOT related to Daniels--
He gets that money (for Daniels and McDougal and who knows how many more) from some GOP source/sugar-daddy to protect Trump's reputation before election---
Don't want another Acess Hollywood fiasco 10 days before election since they already shot their WikiLeaks diffusion into the media ether...
But he wants to make a joke about paying Daniels off--but he can't give the real source of the money--
So he chooses to say that Trump is stiffing him and that is believable because Trump is notoriously cheap--stiffs his attorneys, his contractors--even takes money from his own charities...
So yeah--big joke--
That now has come back to bite Cohen's tush...
Any attorney is keeping documentation of settlement payments--
If he doesn't have the paper trail he can stop pretending to be an attorney
So there is NO attorney client priviledge to pierce to prove culpable guilt--
It is just a business deal period-no priviledge, no privacy--
Only IF Cohen can produce/verify the source of the funds for all these NDAs, can he then argue all the other aspects of the legality...
I wonder who his bookkeeper/accountant is
Because supposedly for Manafort--that is someone who is testifying about Manafort's criminal acts of money laundering and other financial crimes...
trevor potter, former chairman of the FEC, disagrees with your assessment.
You conveniently leave this important fact and point that Potter made.
The FEC could launch an investigation of Cohen’s payment. An investigation would need the sign-off of each of the body’s four commissioners: a group comprised of two Republicans, one Democrat and an independent.
Yet an investigation would take time and only result in financial penalties, Potter said.
As I said earlier in some thread around here a while ago. No one is going to jail over an alleged improper campaign finance contribution.
Apparently, one person has gone to jail over it, once.
The bank he used --Republic, I think--was bank that Trump Corp used (among others) and had accounts with
So Cohen likely had a relationship there for himself as a "favored son" of Trump
You know how those things go--
Making money for banks, you often find yourself the recepient of some special favors yourself...
And some of the tightest, cheapest, never pick up the check people I know -- are pretty rich
They just like to keep it...
And another thought--
Cohen was reported as complaining that Trump stiffed him over paying him back for the money for Daniels--
How could Trump do that when Trump didn't know anything about the deal???
Yep, I think you're right, know the right person no problem with getting the loan.
Kimba Wood, a.k.a. the "Love Judge" and former Playboy Bunny, will hear the Michael Cohen case. She was dubbed the "Love Judge" after her steamy affair with millionaire Frank Richardson was discovered by his wife, who found his diary. Richardson described her as a "complete woman" who was able to "give love wonderfully and freely." Kimba Wood, at the time was married to Time political columnist, Michael Kramer. Kramer had interviewed Bill Clinton for Time's "Man of the Year" piece."
Wood nearly became Bill Clinton's Attorney General, and was Hillary's pick, after Kramer had suggested her to Bill and Hillary. But her nomination was withdrawn when it was learned that she had hired an illegal alien as a baby sitter. This was after Zoe Baird had dropped out under similar circumstances.
Wood had insisted that Cohen disclose that Sean Hannity was one of his clients. She disallowed Cohen's request for a "Special Master" to sort out what is considered "attorney client privilege," and in doing so, also violated Sean Hannity's right to "attorney client privilege."
So, we have a former Clinton nominee overseeing a case involving a Clinton political opponent's attorney, and a case which has nothing to do with "Russian collusion."

"Judge Kimba Wood, the brilliant legal mind who has served in Manhattan Federal Court since 1988 and was once nominated for the U.S. Attorney General post, briefly worked at a Playboy casino in 1966."
So, she would have been nominated by Ronald Reagan.
Anyway, Googling her name (I see she is now 74) I see that the knifes are out for her. I wonder why?
Funny thing about the disclosure of Mr. Hannity's name in court: Judge Wood had only asked for the 'third client's' name be revealed TO HER. Mr. Cohen or his attorney could have merely slipped her a piece of paper. It was not Judge Wood's fault that the attorney decided to blurt out Hannity's name in front of the spectators.
By the by: since Mr. Hannity has publicly stated that Mr. Cohen was never his attorney, then the attorney-client privilege does not apply. Mr. Hannity can't have it both ways.
US law does not allow the current president to pick and choose judges. Thought GOP loved the rule of law.
