I don't get how their can be branded "conservative" or "liberal" judges, which there are. Some do lean this way or that, but I guess I'm naive. Aren't judges supposed to interpret the law based on non biased decision making--nothing to do w/ their own politics or religion or own social issue preference? Supreme Court--if it leans either way-- what real justice is there?
"Conservative" judges are just what you described, committed to interpret the law and not allowing their personal biases on what they would like the law to be to interfere with their judgments.
"Leftist" judges are committed to advocating for the political platforms and preferences preferred by the "Politically correct" left. In fact, they regard the US Constitution as an anachronism that needs to be overruled and re-imagined by "wise latinas" and the like.

No, it's not that way. Each "side" interprets law and brings down rulings based on their own political background and leanings. Look at what's there now and how they "decide" things. They all lean one way or other.
The ones on Trump's list were all deemed conservatives.
True, but Kavanaugh was actually not as conservative as two other final four judges. He's more of a moderate like Kennedy.
Though many conservative talking heads and City-Data Trump supporters are publicly applauding Trump's pick, secretly they were probably like "huh?" Kavanaugh has been referred to as a "Bush guy" and a "typical establishment republican," which is not what Trump and his supporters are about.
Kavanaugh will probably not go after abortion and gay marriage, which many (but not all) Trump voters probably are not happy about.
But then we keep coming back to the WHY. Why did Trump appoint a judge closer to center when there were two other judges of the final four that were much more conservative? Because kavanaugh wants to protect Trump from Mueller. Trump picked Kavanaugh because its in his own best interest.
Earlier this year, he dissented from a decision upholding the structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, created during the Obama administration to enforce regulations against banks, lenders and other business groups. He called independent agencies such as the CFPB "a headless fourth branch of the U.S. government."
Clearly he prefers the government take over such regulation, as opposed to using independent agencies. Kind of the opposite of what a conservative would want.
Just swinging by to see what's what. Trump settled on the safe, boring pick and libs are hysterical anyway.
Correct. Considering the final four, liberals should be fairly happy. Kavanaugh is more conservative than kennedy, but not nearly as conservative as some of the other finalists. So both liberals and some way-to-the-right conservatives are a little upset this morning.
It's sad that Trump gets credit from his supporters, thinking he chose Kavanaugh to further the conservative agenda. Trump picked Kavanaugh for Trump, period. That piece Kavanaugh wrote back in 2009 about the President being untouchable by the justice system is why Trump picked him.
Kavanaugh wrote that POTUS should have “absolute discretion” to determine whether and when to appoint or fire a special counsel.
And that a president should not be criminally indicted, no matter what evidence of wrongdoing is uncovered."
The way Kavanaugh sees it, not only should Trump be granted the power as POTUS to fire a Special Counsel (like Robert Mueller) himself, but Trump, the sitting president, cannot be criminally indicted, "no matter what evidence of wrongdoing is uncovered."
That is an absolute wet dream for Donald Trump.
silly and lame from democrats......this is from the same libs that said Bubba Clinton shouldn't have been
impeached and Hillary didn't do anything illegal and defended her and voted for her to be President.
Kavanaugh is a flip-flop judge. Worked on the Clinton impeachment and it was all okay with him then.
Now he says presidents should be largely immune from indictments, subpoenas and lawsuits.
Which is it?
Key question during confirmation hearings: "Mr. Kavanaugh, do you believe the president is above the law or not?"

Pretty much. It was a smart choice by Trump, not giving the left much fuel while keeping the Court right of center just before the midterm elections thus making as few waves as possible. The left now are focusing on how this pick is going to save Trump from going to jail, LOL. I guess that's all they have to talk about now since they keep repeating it over and over again.

You obviously don't get it. Impeachment and being prosecuted in lawsuits are two very different things but don't let little things like facts get in the way of your talking points.
