It's been my observation that since Trump's election, many people on both sides of the aisle are walking around with heightened emotions. There's an undercurrent of fear that I think is at the root of these types of behaviors. I feel it myself. We're all on a hair trigger any more.
But conveniently lost on some here is why a student feels a need to wear a MAGA hat to school in the first place, knowing full well how inflammatory it could be to other students. That's like someone wearing a Hells Angels cap and shirt to a Mongols party, or some 'alt right' members parading through a university wearing swastika shirts and giving heil salutes.
The student knew very well what wearing a MAGA hat could do, and is sitting back at home with a smirk as people eat it up and laud what a 'brave hero' the student was for wearing the shirt and expressing freedom of speech.
Now, had some student or teacher worn a "f**k the military", "death to USA", or "Antifa Power" shirt or hat to school, and was beaten up for it, people here would suddenly change their tunes and mock the student/teacher if they were beaten for it. That they deserved to get beaten for it.
Seventeen years old and she looks like she's in her thirties and beat. Her father is clearly an idiot but I feel sorry for him having such an angry, unfortunate child.
Stop it, people. She's seventeen years old, and she made a mistake. A big one, but there's no reason to make such personal attacks. She'll learn.
