You'er twisting what he said. Maybe it wasn't elegant as most words aren't when speaking off the cuff. I know what I and others have heard and agree with the other poster.
ETA: He still didn't come out and flat out say that he wasn't in the picture....AND he says that he painted his face black to look like Michael Jackson at a dance contest in San Antonio...and later realized it was insensitive .
And before the above, he claimed that he never bought the yearbook, that he is only now aware of the picture.
I wonder if someone will try to do an analysis with facial recognition software to try to determine if the guy in blackface standing next to the guy in KKK garb is Northam.
ETA 2: At 258pm Eastern time, while answering questions, he couldn't remember that it was Michael Jackson that he had referenced in his statement....his wife had to remind him .
ETA 3: At 314pm Eastern time he said that he welcomes facial recognition analysis. And he said that he's convinced that it isn't him in the picture (still not flat out saying that it wasn't him)
I am guessing the Governor is in full clean up mode.
