The Roe v. Wade decision from 1973 is now nearly 50 years old. The ruling allowed states to make their own abortion laws, which some pro-life senators say was based off of whether or not the baby in the womb is a person. If you are a woman who believes that the science from 1973 is still applicable for today you need to just get your ass back in the kitchen. Modern science has proven life begins at conception.
If you want abortions to go down provide sex education, free contraceptives, etc like some of the European countries do.
That should be an area of bipartisan support but the pro-life side has devoted their time to the symptom rather than the problem. They have fought contraception and other areas that could actually reduce unintended pregnancies.

That's why I have so little respect for people who want abortion banned. They are strongly opposed to attacking the problem of abortion before it's in the bud. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. But if they heard the local high school was offering contraception and condoms, they would demand it be stopped at once.
And they are ones who resist Sex Education and Birth Control being offered, their daughters having gone to other states to acquire abortions, their having contributed to the problem they themselves are against. This will just create more difficulties for their own family members.
I think it IS possible a 5-4 vote could overturn Roe v Wade. How would the women in this country react to such a reality--a return to back-alley butchers?
a return to back-alley butchers?
If they didn't care about the child what makes one think they cared about themselves.
Guess that sum's it up..
I liked the suggestion one person (I can't recall whom it was, but it was some female state legislature) made the other day.
Essentially, she said since conservatives believe that the government has the right to control a person's body (such as abortion for women), then the same conservatives should have no problem with the government mandating that young males undergo a vasectomy. If said male then, upon attaining adult status, wishes to father children, he may undergo a reversal of the vasectomy.
It makes some degree of sense. If the government can control a woman's body the government can control a man's body.
