I live in South Carolina in a community with houses that are, to many, over priced. Started to look at buying a housei n Florida and moving. We then looked at property taxes....three times what we pay for a house valued at 60% of what our house is valued at. WHAT?
So the big decision to move to Florida being deemed some wise financial decision is a load of malarkey. It isn't. He would do a million times better in a million places. But go ahead convince yourself it is some wise financial decision instead of knowing full well he has lost his 'status' in NYC and he can't bear to go back and live like that.

Yes, property tax in FL is very high, as is insurance (hurricanes). For Trumps Mar A Lago, the tax is $1.5 million per year.
He is leaving NY because people hate him there. Unfortunately they'll probably hate him in West Palm Beach as well. For whatever reason he is drawn to liberal areas. Why didn't he move to rural Texas?
Does he like liberal areas because of all the "free stuff".
If trump is so wealthy, why did he set up a sham university to financially prey on well meaning young adults hoping to better themselves?
I know nothing of the details, or the validity of try complainers. I do know that any billionaire has tons of lawsuits against him. I also know that Trump's policies, generally speaking, are much better for the welfare and survival of our country than those being peddled by the leftist candidates. And that's what counts.
But this isn't about Trump University, although nice attempt at the whatwboutism libs do when they can't argue effectively. It is about how liberal policies, and the demonization of the successful, will drive wealthy people out of liberal jurisdictions. Then who's going to pay for all the freebies the jurisdiction hands out?

I'd move if a bunch of leftists were harassing me, damaging my property, and picketing in front of my house. What's wrong with moving to a place where lefties won't demonize you, especially if staying there is costing you a fortune because of the very policies the lefties advocate?
Smart move, Trump. (And wouldn't it be great if Florida was decided on a single vote next year?!)
He settled it because he was going to LOSE - the same reason he settled most of them.
That said - overweight retiree moving to Florida is pretty much business as usual.
You're right on both.
Mr. Trump's 'par for the course' litigious business model when sued: respond by counter-suing, make false & sometimes frivolous claims, refuse to reasonable settlements, dragging on lawsuits for years, & so on.
In the past (when not POTUS) he often just threatened counter-lawsuits. A cursory look at many of these scenarios revealed he rarely followed through with his threatened lawsuits & almost always lost when he did.
Until Trump sells all his personal property in NYC the theory he is moving to Florida to avoid 'New York' taxes is ludicrous. You know kids that you still have to pay property taxes on property you own in places other than your primary residence. Not sure about NYC but in many communities that 'second' home pays more tax than if it was the primary residence.
You all are spinning so fast and just going in circles.
