And the Norden bomb-sights used in WW-II (and Korea and Vietnam) actually WERE very accurate.
Once again it's like saying a shotgun is accurate when you trying to hit a bullseye. You might hit it the first time or you might hit it the hundredth time.
Precise figures are not available, but the strategic bombing campaign against Japan, directed by LeMay between March 1945 and the Japanese surrender in August 1945, may have killed more than 500,000 Japanese civilians and left five million homeless.[16] Official estimates from the United States Strategic Bombing Survey put the figures at 220,000 people killed.[12] Some 40% of the built-up areas of 66 cities were destroyed, including much of Japan's war industry
Too bad, so sad. Japan slaughtered approximately 20 MILLION Chinese, to say nothing of 10s of thousands of Americans, let alone those of other nations in the south Pacific. The solution for Japan to STOP the killing of it's citizens was simple. Surrender. Bombing after bombing-they vowed to fight to the last person-until the nukes were used. The use of atomic bombs was predicted to save 1 million American casualties. It's really a shame we didn't have them until 1945.
Intelligent people understand that Enrichment ≠Nuclear Weapons...
DUH!
And intelligent people understand that you don't develop nuclear weapons UNTIL you master enrichment. So why do you think they're moving forward with their enhanced enrichment?
As for the rest of your bloviating - blah, blah, blah. I find it hard to take ANYTHING you post seriously after you went on and on a few weeks back about how the low Labor Force Participation Rate under Trump says nothing about the health of the economy AFTER you going on and on about how the low Labor Force Participation Rate under Obama was a sign of a poor economy. Seems pretty obvious there's not a lot of logic or integrity to you arguments so why should I take any of your arguments seriously. You just argue the EXACT OPPOSITE of your previous argument when it suits you.
Do I need to re-post those 2 absolutely opposite posts of yours AGAIN to refresh your memory?

Maybe you should read up about the Norden sights before making such uneducated statements.
The accuracy of the sights was never the problem, the fact that they were being shot at was the issue.
Quote:
Together, these features seemed to promise unprecedented accuracy in day bombing from high altitudes; in peacetime testing the Norden demonstrated a circular error probable (CEP)[a] of 75 feet (23 m), an astonishing performance for the era. This accuracy would allow direct attacks on ships, factories, and other point targets. Both the Navy and the USAAF saw this as a means to achieve war aims through high-altitude bombing; for instance, destroying an invasion fleet by air long before it could reach U.S. shores. To achieve these aims, the Norden was granted the utmost secrecy well into the war, and was part of a then-unprecedented production effort on the same scale as the Manhattan Project. Carl L. Norden, Inc. ranked 46th among United States corporations in the value of World War II military production contracts.
Iran has now decided to block any inspections of it's facilities. The spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, Hossein Naghavi-Hosseini, said: “When the other party doesn’t fulfill it's commitments, there is no necessity for us to meet our part of commitments."
No one trusts Iran and their big daddy Putin for a minute, but at least under the former agreement we had some level of inspections. Now we have ZERO visibility into Iran's operations. Just stupid.
Trump's decisions have everything to do with his populist politics and nothing to do with our national security. They have direct and dangerous consequences.
Trump's decisions have everything to do with only one thing :
Undoing everything President Obama has done no matter what !

I'm not making uneducated statements, the citation you made said 75 feet. That's quite a distance especially if you are trying to hit a target that is hardened or smaller. In addition to that you have pattern layed out in line as each bomb is not released simultaneously. High latitude bombing of that era also required good weather conditions etc. Then there is the jet stream over Japan that was extraordinarily strong... Add to all of that you do not have the information available to you like you would today on precisely what it is you want to target.
At the beginning of the bombing campaign against the Japanese homeland they were using precision bombing techniques but it was proving ineffective especially compared to the results of the fire bombing raids.

The firebombing was effective in maximizing civilian casualties (up to 100 000 in one night)

Which helped destroy Japan's ability to wage war. FYI, the Japanese tried firebombing the US... They launched balloons that traveled the jet stream with the intention they would set cities, crops and forests on fire. This of course was utter failure.
